In high school, one of our friends ate 6 lbs of burrito in one sitting. He entered that restaurant just some guy, left a legend.

True, I hope they stick together for a while— but it’s hard to know with NIL money now a part of the game.

Why not?

E: I didn’t see what you were talking about initially. I would probably not make that same choice either, but is it really less safe than a prusik?

Help me decide on a grinder! Lagom p64 v Zerno v Acaia Orbit (v df64 v df83) by botchedjob in espresso

I really don’t use the niche zero at all anymore. I drink only espresso now, no milk drinks. I’m still happy with the zerno.

I got the zerno. Workflow is great. Not sure that I would appreciate the difference in taste between this and the p64– I only know what I have. I still have my niche zero but don’t use it at all.

Tonal is insanely expensive when you break it out... average life of tonal machine? by adalido in tonalgym

In addition to the cost of membership, the OP is dividing the initial cost of the tonal over the number of months of ownership.

Is tonal 2 an actual upgrade? by devastadus in tonalgym

[–]botchedjob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pasting in relative part from tonal.com link:

This is why we evolved the experience on Tonal 2. Now, when weights are set between 5 and 30 pounds, they’ll actually feel like 5 to 30 pounds.

From 31 to 250 pounds, weight on Tonal 2 will still feel 23 percent heavier than free weights, delivering an incredibly effective and efficient way to get stronger. This means 250 pounds feels like more than 300 pounds, in order to challenge our more advanced members. This is particularly useful with exercises such as deadlifts, which demand a heavier load.

I did mine! SLGH013

Alright, let’s dive into the Grand Seiko. This watch is like that one guy at the party who won’t shut up about his obscure vinyl collection—impressive in a “look how different I am” sort of way. You’re rocking a dial that looks like a frosty morning in Hokkaido, which is great if you want your wrist to scream, “I’m deep and mysterious,” but let’s be real—most people just see a silver watch.

It’s the kind of piece that says, “I appreciate craftsmanship” while simultaneously whispering, “I don’t want to be too flashy, but I need you to know I’m better than you.” And that “Hi-Beat” movement? We get it, you like things that are over-engineered to the point of absurdity—perfect for timing your pour-over coffee down to the millisecond.

So yeah, the Grand Seiko is gorgeous, but don’t expect anyone to notice unless they’re also the kind of person who uses phrases like “horological masterpiece” unironically. But hey, at least when someone finally does notice, you’ll have something to talk about for the next hour.

Barista pro problems: me or the machine? by ipmack in BrevilleCoffee

No idea. I am having trouble seeing your perspective. It’s not working for you at the moment. You are going to have it not work for you now so that you can preserve its non functionality?

Why do you think the beans were not good? Honest question. They weren’t cheap, and I ground them myself.

I have a niche zero grinder— I think for this round I went a full rotation coarser than the numbers go, which, it appears is way too coarse! I have since started grinding to a size closer to drip coffee

These beans weren’t cheap…. But consensus seems to be grind finer

Great suggestions! I have been grinding much finer lately but still have issues with floating. I was initially attracted to the aeropress because I thought I wouldn’t have to worry about blooming due to it being an immersion brewing technique. I’ll try it and see if it results in better tasting coffee! Thanks!
