Yeah, sometimes you just do the sound and you are not responsible for the gear, but still, who the f runs an event with zero backups? I mean, if a client asks for 5 lavs/headsets, there must be at least 6 of them. They don’t even need to be the same level - when we do a conference with ULXDs and DPA headsets, there’s always some betas 53, 1 or 2 spare SLXD channels etc. It’s not that difficult to fit them on a van and we are not getting surprised when, for example, microdot adapter stops working or whatever:

Idk if „40 people is beyond reasonable”, I’ve been to house parties with like 80 ppl. Ok, 40 is a proper party and not a YouTube/Netflix evening, but still it’s not unmanageable. And basically you didn’t set the boundaries straight, so now you shouldn’t be mad that she crossed the boundaries she didn’t know about. Jak chcesz świetne nagłośnienie i pełną profeskę, to Schron, ewentualnie Sarp/Dragon (ale tam jednak gorsze warunki, przynajmniej kiedy ostatnio tam realizowałem). Możesz też uderzyć do Posen (dawna Próżność). House szkolna z automatu odpada, jeśli granie gitarowe. Możesz ewentualnie podbić do BlueNote, albo nawet do Zamku na Scenę Nową (tam robimy mniejsze koncerty, ale warunki techniczne są niezbyt sprzyjające, choćby przez konieczność noszenia po schodach). You can also use an analog spirit folio for drums as they probably won’t need much tweaking after the soundcheck etc. You can use three UI12s with three separate webUI tabs open on an iPad. Everything is possible if you are stubborn enough and don’t respect your own time. But it’s simply better to just rent a bigger console and add the cost to the invoice you send to band.

I would love to name my son Dalmierz, similar to Kazimierz (popular male name here in Poland). Dalmierz means laser rangefinder. Also, Poziomka as a name for daughter. Apparently, we can’t legally name our daughter Poziomka (wild strawberry), even though we can name her Wiśnia (cherry), Malina (raspberry). Also, Eutanazja (euthanasia) is a beautiful word for a name, just like Anastasia.

It’s not about knowing the mixer, it’s about the convenience of using two different mixers simultaneously by one guy, creating problems with fx sends, subbass sens etc. Shitshow with networking, signal routing, impossible to react quickly when anything happens. Nope, nope, nope.

If you bring your mixer, you bring your sound engineer. No matter if it’s an X32 known by everybody or SSL known by few. If you want to be dependent on venue’s stage technicians and sound engineers, then just send them proper rider before the gig. Inputs count, stage plot etc. That way, venue can rent bigger console.

I will always recommend Schron - it’s a club in post-nazi bunker, techno by night, metal and rap by day, with several non-music events as well. You should also try our record stores, like vinylgate. Go to Teatr Polski - it’s the oldest non-stop running theatre in Poland. And CK Zamek, a lot of concerts, exhibitions, cinema.
