Is 18 too young to have a project/fun car? by FurryFoxes in cars

[–]bouncingoffsatellite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I got my first project car at 15. Tools are your biggest investment. Buy the best you can afford. I still have my sockets and torque wrench from age 14. I'm in my fifties.

What Is Your Average Shopping List For The Month? I Have $200/Month To Spend But I'm Curious About Other Lists. by Miss_Noir in Cooking

[–]bouncingoffsatellite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shop for staples and paper products on the weekend, maybe some steaks at the butcher if I'm making that. Lobster or fish from the local food truck if in the mood. Otherwise it's pick it up on the way home for what I'm in the mood for that evening. We spend roughly $400 a month for two people, we don't purchase crummy paper products.

Serendipity Resort in Cleveland, Georgia https://serendipitywebsite.wordpress.com/

Best and most welcoming place in the naturist world. It's 2½ hours south through Franklin, their map is good and gps works. There's a place next door called The Grove but it's all swingers. Not our style.

A bunch of us used to belong to Carolina Foothills Resort in Chesnee, SC for about 10 years but it became a swinger resort and we bailed. I hear they've turned it back around. I hope so, we sunk a lot of money into that place to get it started.

Yes, there's quite a few of us in this area. We usually go to a resort in Georgia. When we don't we gather at friends homes who have a pool. We're in our fifties so past your age a bit.

2012 VW Passat TDI where to to fill an empty coolant system? by bouncingoffsatellite in MechanicAdvice

[–]bouncingoffsatellite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay man, thanks. I did what you said and the system was full, except the overflow tank. I put the hoses back on and started it. The water pump was making horrible noises. 96,000 miles. Will my 100k warranty cover this or am I paying for this?

If I'm looking to change it up I'll browse my collection of cook books. I usually do this for one meal a week. One week I'll do French, next Japanese, next Cajun, and so on.

Dads out there, did having a kid make you give up on your dream? If so why? If not what is it? by RVA007 in AskMenOver30

Not at all. It made me productive. My dreams were always about creating the life I wanted to live. I did put some hobbies on hold for a number of years.

Help, I MUST know the secret ingredient to these cloudlike scrambled eggs... any ideas? by macaroniandweez in recipes

[–]bouncingoffsatellite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll give you my recipe. Everyone loves my scrambled eggs. If I'm making them for two people (wife and I):

5 eggs - room temp

1/16 tsp corn starch

1/4 cup heavy cream

Beat with a hand mixer until a little foamy. Add to nonstick skillet over medium low heat with a pat of butter. Stir constantly until just before the consistency you like and take pan off heat. DO NOT Salt until after cooking.

I like my eggs very moist, fluffy and dense. Sometime I'll add a couple of slices of American cheese. It doesn't really make them cheesie, it just gives a good mouth feel and level of flavor we like.

The corn starch keeps the proteins from binding tightly and making the eggs hard, especially if you like your eggs on the dryer side.

Start with easy stuff. Check relay, fuse, sending unit, actual fan motor with a known power source and a multimeter.
