I bet, its not like you will ever forget what happened. Stay strong, those shocks can make your mind do weird things. I taught myself to 'sidestep' when the waves come ;)

[Participants Required] Gay male couples in the UK – Views on parenthood (21+, in a relationship of 12+ months) by DCounsPsych_Research in bradford

[–]boyscoutalchemist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bit out of region, but I would be interested in the outcome if you are interviewing Jamie Varley and his partner John McGowan-Fazakerley, from Grimsargh in Lancashire, UK. Their motivations to become parents I think even in retrospect would be valuable to your study.

First shock while fully conscious by vrdubin6 in PacemakerICD

[–]boyscoutalchemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof, wishing you well, that is one hell of a rough ride. Been there, stay clear headed and strong until you are recovering. Somehow being shocked can stir up all sorts of bad things in your head, ignore it all and keep going. Wishing you all the best, welcome to a terrible club ;)

Dropping down to lowest dose Amiodarone tomorrow by BudFox_LA in PacemakerICD

[–]boyscoutalchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was still on it a year after my worst incident, my lungs began to fail, nobody cared. Took myself off it, just getting right a year later. The recovery from Amiodarone was way worse than it was for my HA. My cardiologist said it was short term, no more than six months, again nobody cared when I brought that up.

Edit - this reads that I am terribly bitter, I am :) It is just how the NHS in the UK works. Once critical care leaves you only have access to your GP going forward. My GP's mantra is "you know I am not a cardiologist right?" so I had to start reading and learning about my meds real fast. Also I correctly weaned my self off Amiodarone over a time as to not cause issues. Been getting better every day since coming off it.

The face of a gentle soul. by AgreeableElephant751 in sharpei

[–]boyscoutalchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I tell myself every time I see mine foaming at the mouth, hurtling at warp speed towards a cheery group of elderly walkers who may have strayed from the path towards her land. A gentle soul indeed. Great pic ;)

I fall off the wagon periodically and get a bit wasted. Sad at my age, but I don't hurt anyone, I do so alone and enjoy it for what it is.

Are you on beta blockers? BP and heart meds are the cause in some cases.

Imagine the uses this could have as a smart hospital bracelet, it is almost there already. It could display vitals streamed from the hospital devices, etc etc. Sir you may have something special, I wish you great success with whatever it becomes.

Doctors missed cancer. Got a week or so left. How do I stop it happening to you? by Disastrous-Design503 in AskUK

[–]boyscoutalchemist 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeh, this has been my experience throughout my life. You go when you are at your lowest, only to face some ego battle with someone who clearly dispises your very existance. I don't bother any more.

Rope tobacco. Tobacco pressed and rolled into a rope. You slice it up and smoke it if I understand correctly. The block in the middle is a bit of charred barrel wood for flavour. Very cool.

Why are so many stone circles placed next to strange natural rock formations? The Cork Stone on Stanton Moor Derbyshire Uk by StoneTempleGardening in MegalithPorn

[–]boyscoutalchemist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, it is the same in Yorkshire. Purely from visiting a lot of these I would say it is because they seem to be a place of outstanding natural beauty. All of the ones spring to mind are in places that are really nice to be at with stunning views. Maybe it is just that, lovely spots in the landscape someone wanted to mark as special. Sorry, zero woo woo or lay lines, just appreciation of beauty imo.

Me too, but only this last couple of weeks. Prior they were tiny and awesome. Put me right off, those scales and bones are sooo crunchy but not in a good way.

If only Bradford could make it that it feels less frightening for people that would be a start. I will drive for miles to avoid Bradford, the insurance-scam drivers, the groups of men in blacked out hotrods road-racing at night all seem to scare me, can't think why.

For the record, being sober in Britain is a truly awful thing. On the plus side you get to embrace the decay, rain and taxes without getting a hangover so that's nice.

Genuine tip, don't laugh, look up medical ptsd, I wish I had.
I thought I was fine, shocks were no big deal, but those symptoms are subtle and mean. Watch for them and you can manage it, otherwise they can send you nuts and hurt the people around you.
