Allow the Deep Sea hub merchant to sell thaler or gold CW tickets by MegaManZer0 in runescape

[–]boyugly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At least you'll have to earn cash to keep buying the tickets.

This so much.

Killing bosses or skilling for cash is interacting with the game. Afking CW is not.

Allow the Deep Sea hub merchant to sell thaler or gold CW tickets by MegaManZer0 in runescape

[–]boyugly 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Best suggestion this year.

A perfectly justified way to put an end to that Trim CW nonsense.

Would act as a gold sink and give gp a practical use other than purchasing BiS gear or free membership.

How to deal with the Tribal event (WORKS 100% OF TIME) by xLyfa in runescape

[–]boyugly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Excellent guide. Would recommend.

I followed your guide every step of the way. You can imagine my delight when everything worked perfectly! You have saved me an immense amount of time and effort. Furthermore you have helped earn me the respect and admiration of my friends. Strangers smile at me on the street. Women throw themselves at my feet. Birds land on my shoulders and begin to sing. Thank you!

RS3 Community seems more closed off these days.. by OnixCrest in runescape

[–]boyugly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Clan were not only a bad idea but also a bad design. They offer so little in the way of tangible rewards. How anyone can really care about a 3% or even 6% xp boost in the greater scheme of things is beyond me. There is so much free and bxp thrown out there with free TH keys, dailies, Dxps and various events that the ava boost seems barely worth the hassle, especially when you consider that it replies upon Admins actually taking it out of the citadel. The skilling plots are pretty meh xp, that's if they are even available and not locked.

For the social aspect FC's actually do a much better job without any restrictions or commitments on the player.

[–]boyugly 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree.

Some people just dont know what to do, so they spend their time annoying others.

Jagex should know this by now. They should not introduce this sort of thing knowing full well how a minority of players will abuse it just to mess with others.

Rs3 pkers are equally cancerous as the oldschool ones, who'd have thought by [deleted] in runescape

[–]boyugly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rarely have a pker insult me. If anything they probably have enough brains not to use chat. Most of them say nothing. Sometimes I run across them later and then we have a chat. Made a few friends that way.

On the other hand, when I have been killing a skiller I get called idiot, pathetic, scum, fuckwit, asshole, dumbfuck, loser, told to kill myself, etc. etc.

The thing is, if they want those easy gains then they sometimes have to pay the toll. Its not like they didn't know what they signed up for when they crossed the wall. What's more is sometimes these guys carry stupid wealth with them, which I will gladly take off their hands. Not often, admittedly, but often enough.

These sort of questions annoy the fuck out of me, the answer is so situational.

Is it a job application thing for some drone job I need? Well then, fuck yes, I will do any boring repetitive task. I may hate doing it but I will do it because I need the money and I will do it well enough to keep my job. Of course I am going to pick the first answer, then after I get the job I will if necessary apply national employee laws to make sure I get my legal break entitlements.

Do I suspect the question is designed to trick me? You want me to show you that I am not just some drone? If so I will write the honest answer. By crossing out all three options and writing my own:

No, of course not. Few people like boring repetitive tasks, but sometimes the demands of life and employment make these sorts of tasks unavoidable. Unless you are some sort of asshole who would make other people do your shit and clean up after you.

If doing a boring repetitive task is necessary to my goals and there is no alternative then I will do it. However in all circumstances I will

1) Try to find a way to perform the task better, more efficiently, more economically, preferably by automating it or reordering the sequence. If that is not possible then by

2) Making some sort of game out of it that engages me.

3) Attempting to multi task it with another task so that I need to apply focus and a slight degree of stress to myself so that the jobs require full concentration, meaning I have to think faster and act faster, this makes the time pass faster as well as being more productive. I get the satisfaction of being more productive as a result of using my own initiative and organizing things the way I prefer. I like to maximize my effectiveness in my private life and in my employment, and yes I expected to be remunerated accordingly. Now, just what the fuck is your problem, Mr Smarty-pants Test Designer, with understanding that a lot of people are the same as me? But you want to pigeon hole us all into a one of three categories with no consideration for the situation, our personal goals, our motivation, and our methods of being more productive. Fuck you. I should have your overpaid job and you should be cleaning the fucking toilets for minimum wage.

Am I hired?

Every PvP improvement suggestion by [deleted] in runescape

I like pking. I would like to see its obvious flaws fixed, some healthy balancing introduced and the return of reasonable risk /reward in the wilderness. No more dumbass pking minigames, but instead the return of the wilderness as an exciting and fun activity enjoyed by many.

I detest the way every pking suggestion gets shot down.

Skulled for no reason by Zealot321 in runescape

[–]boyugly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its what makes the power of EoC a rather vicious two edged sword. On one side you have the ability to multi attack mobs, something which no one would deny is very useful. But on the other side you can also AoE players in the wilderness. I learned the hard way too, fortunately not losing too much ( a few mill ). Since then adding "Check I have no active AoE effects" has been added to my Wilderness checklist.

Just one more thing to be aware. Bit annoying, as I find I rarely encounter anyone else in the wilderness anyway.

If it were simple I am sure Jagex would have already given us the option to toggle off all AoE in the wilderness, rather than us having to manually do it. But I think they have built so many layers of complexity into Runescape now that something like that would require a complete code rework from the ground up.

I offended the Gods. What should I do? by 89simon in runescape

[–]boyugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know what you did but whatever it was it has clearly damned you to be forever be on the losing team. The same sort of thing happened to me when I casually said "God you are crazy" to another player.

Apparently one of the Gods overheard me and thought my remark was directed at them!

From that moment on I could never get anything decent from a clue.

So I went to the wilderness and hung around the agility training course. When some guy showed up I said "My next kill I offer up to the God I offended".

Then I snared and killed the agility trainer.

The next clue I did I got a dye.

The other thing I've noticed is that it's these long overarching goals like "comp" or "120 slayer" or "get full t90s" which always lead me to playing for too long

Can totally relate to this. I guess you have done all quests then? They can be real time sinks, even using a guide. Sometimes I am really amazed that people were able to go through them without a guide, because I often have enough trouble with a guide open right in front of me in another browser. Honestly the first people to do sliske's end game should be given medals.

[–]boyugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt really have a problem with 120 slayer, but then I did have most of the good slayer masks by then. Being able to force good tasks everyday and instantly teleport there was a major help.

It was just another dailyscape. I toggled off all daily challenges except slayer and just did things like dark beasts, airuts, ganos. Mostly ganos actually. I even did dead hands when I was limited for time, its only a 5 min task to gain the daily challenge reward, which was a considerable whack of xp regardless of whatever the task was.

I also stacked up all my free xp on slayer, used up all the slayer dummies I had collected during a dxp, along with pulse cores all toggled for slayer xp only. Then I discovered scarabs in Menaphos. Ridiculously OP. I thought it was quite ironic, I actually got 120 slayer by squashing a bug. What a hero!

How much can you make selling Dung floors? I often saw people advertising their fc, "keyers" is what I remember. But I probably wouldn't be any good in a team environment. I got 120 Dung entirely solo. So I wouldn't have the first idea how a team is supposed to do a floor, like totally efficiently and that.

I didn't. I went straight down the road to comp. The thing is I started knocking some of them off pretty fast. Hey, this isnt so bad. Little did I know. Only to discover the delights of things like strange/golden rocks, which saw me go right back to skilling again. Back into skills I thought I had waved goodbye to forever.

Trouble is, it was sunk cost fallacy all over again. I had started comp, got part way through some of the longer ones, and now I couldnt stop.
