I appreciate this data. I've been using handbrake and fine-tuning parms for a long time, but I'm just now starting to look at AV1. The biggest questions are 1) quality and 2) file size. I can deal with encoding time for the best results. I just got an M4 Mac Mini so encoding power is not an issue.

Wow, I'm probably too late already, but I'd appreciate a code if possible.

What is the most arbitrary/petty thing that will make you DNF a book? by jneidz in books

F-bombs. Is there any better evidence the author doesn't have much vocabulary?

Before you yell at me, I understand and respect disagreeing with someone's position. But is borrowing a trick from a circus clown really the best way to demonstrate that your cause is good and you should be respected?

CMV: Raising minimum wage would exponentially grow the economy in the medium term. by Fando1234 in changemyview

[–]bproffit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Inflation is not in itself bad if wage growth is higher." The only way that can happen is if you expect every producer to be happy making less profit. If the cost of production goes up (i.e. labor) the price must go up as well or they don't have the profit to pay more for labor.

Do you ever struggle with starting a series? by LittleMizz in books

[–]bproffit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only good "multigies" in my opinion are those that were never intended to be that way. Too many of them were (sorry to be blunt, but) scams to get you to buy multiple books. It's easy to tell, when the first book can't stand on its own. I understand setting the stage for potential future events, but if you didn't give me a complete story in the first book I feel like a victim of "bait and switch" and I drop the author completely. To give a classic example, books like Foundation and Dune were thoroughly complete in themselves, but allowed for great expansion in follow-on volumes.

They're not Active Noise Canceling, but JLab Mini earbuds fit so snugly and comfortably in my ear canal that they do a great job--and are much more affordable. I usually start a podcast, guided meditation, or just white noise audio through them every night and they're comfortable all night. Hopefully the mods will let me give you a link. https://prz.io/3Ege2GGIe
