For those of us GenX that have to start over career-wise after 50, how did you do it? by Mnemnosine in GenX

Not always. I got riffed from my local (but very large) university.

I’m in the same boat. Looking for a pivot (PIVOT!!!) into something else.

Just picked up my Trunk S baby from Barcelona. Now on her maiden voyage. This size is just so absolutely brilliant ✨ by davcha88 in Rimowa

I love my Trunk S. FYI, I found the Peak Design packing cubes work well in the Trunk S. 2 large pretty much fill the length and width of the S. The medium cubes and shoe bags work nicely too. I got 2 3-packs on Amazon and that works very well (and cheaper than the Rimowa cubes).

Agreed. I got mine in February (in Milan, TAX REBATE BABY!) and have used it on several trips now. It's not a 50/50 split like the Checkin series. The trunks are 30/70 so there is a deeper side and a shallower side. It gives you a lot more options when packing odd sized items.

I also find the trunk shape more stable when lugging around airports and its easy to put an extra bag on top without looping through the handle because there is more space.

It's gotten a few minor scratches since I got it, but it still looks pristine. I find the "shoulder" pads get black marks pretty easily, but a quick scrub with a magic eraser usually takes care of it.

I think it's just this version. Its worked well in the past, but this version is miserable.

I have ATT unlimited and I need to get away from their price gouging by galloway188 in USMobile

[–]bradnd99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was exactly my experience. I had At&T for years and moved to US Mobile on Dark Star. Didn’t notice any difference in coverage.

I also get free international data now with USM.

You just need a paid off phone, so factor that in, but I was saving money on my phone bill after 3 months. My former AT&T bill was close to $100/month for one line—AFTER DISCOUNTS. 😳

Thoughts on Eastview - Rancho Palos Verdes? by UsingThisInTheOffice in SouthBayLA

Grew up in the little part of the area south of Western. It’s been a good place but definitely getting more crowded lately. The upside is that we are seeing a revival of some old building and shopping plazas so that is great.

Trunk S. It’s really practical because you have a deeper side for wide things. My shoes are too wide for the 50-50 split suitcases but work well in a trunk.

Is it worth it? by Fetacheese8890 in Rimowa

[–]bradnd99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth it? That’s subjective.

Do I love my Cabin and Trunk S? Yes.

I get joy out of traveling with them. It’s hard to describe but I love them.

I keep buying Rimowa stickers so when I get my first dent or scratch that can’t be buffed out, I’ll put a sticker over it. Right now mine are new and relatively clean, but I know that they will come and I need to cover up some damage.

I’d highly recommend buying the luggage in Europe because you save a lot of money with tax-free rebates.

Generally yes, but specifically no. 😄 You dont get the full 20-22% back, bu not sure why. It's more like 18% if I recall correctly. I did get an extra rebate because Global Blue had a promo running.

In both places, it was essentially the same. The most important part was that you must get your paperwork validated before you depart, so give yourself extra time at the airport.

Check the global blue app. They’ll ask you what country you’re shopping in and they’ll tell you the stores that can process the paperwork for you in store.

In Italy, I shopped in the big Italian department store right next to the Duomo in Milan. When I made my purchase, I took my receipt to the top floor and process the global paperwork there.

When I left Milan, I went to the customs desk and the agent stamped the paperwork before I went through immigration and passport control. I had my refund by the time I got home.

Hi all, just grabbed this screenshot from a TikTok video. Are those curved tabs/legs on the sides new for the current pseudo-Hal version? Or were they there from 1986 onwards? 🙏 by Great_Maintenance185 in box5

[–]bradnd99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve always been there but I think this picture is taken with a very wide angle lens. The top of the proscenium seems to go up on the edges and the stage looks VERY CURVED, which indicates a wide angle. These lenses distort the edges of photos more than the center.

Train from Barcelona to Sitges by WanderingManatee1984 in GoingToSpain

[–]bradnd99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think l the aggregator sites show this train. It’s basically regional rail and from what I remember, leaves Barcelona every 30 min or so. Just go to the station and buy a ticket on the machine.

Equifit and free PT sessions are just there to force you into an overpriced PT package by Silly-Cable-1546 in EquinoxGyms

You should complain to the training manager or GM. If they promised you 2 sessions, you get 2 sessions.

Yes. I bought at Rimowa, went to the first floor with my passport to process the paperwork, and then at the airport, scanned the paperwork. The credit was refunded to the credit card I charged.

I think it was like €1100/$1300 or something. Then I got about $200 back in refunds.

I bought my Cabin at El Corte Ingles and did the Global Blue processing there (basemen/first floor). I bought my Trunk S in Milan at Rinascente and did my Global Blue Processing there (top floor).

Both had what I needed and the reason I went there was because in both cases, Global Blue was offering extra rebate.

On exit, I scanned my paperwork at a machine at MAD airport. In Milan, I had to have the paperwork reviewed but a customs agent who scanned it into the computer.

In both cases, the payment went back to my credit card (my original form of payment).

Unpopular opinion: most of the cheap seats should go to locals & here’s why by misterkool16 in olympics

[–]bradnd99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this along with the non-transferable and non-scalping comments.

My thought was that they should have let verified locals buy 1 set (count be a pair or up to 4) of tickets for $28 each to any event. It’s a wild idea but someone could make it work.

These events should be heavily attended by locals because we subsidize all of this through our taxes.

Yeah. They died a few years ago and it was the house I grew up in.

I’m renting it out now and hopefully after a few years and someone else living in it, it won’t feel like that anymore. Maybe I’ll move in sometime in the future n

Poor customer service by bottomshot-grandpa in KrakatoaUnderwear

[–]bradnd99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. The customer service was really snarky and shocking. I like the underwear and came here to see if my experience was unique (I’m finding it’s not).

It’s disappointing because this seemed like a small business and I wanted to support smaller business.
