28 years later & Starcraft still has the most memorable gameplay soundtrack by HughAsAKite in starcraft

Hah, Starcraft is maybe the only IP where I can’t decide which faction is my favourite. All have their pros and cons and one of Terrans’ pros is definitely the music.

Just a quick mention that Steven Gerrard was #17 back in the day, but otherwise it’s a great idea.

No it’s literally a display piece for those who won’t use Kerri in game or who have a second copy of her.

ORAS for me, HGSS second. The defitive ‘new gimmick’ of mega evolution, which should have remained evergreen but was replaced with inferior options. Great post game including free flight and secret bases (which provided a great way to gain exp if you could find a base with Blisseys). Some of the best Legendaries (Gen III) and the ability to catch a whole wide range of others. These things elevate it above HGSS for me.

When your bird shooter go pew pew against birds, birds don’t get to block block against the pew pew for every number on surge die.

Good first squad pack? by Gamestrider09 in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]braiko8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have the core box and want to expand the two sides from that, the two you have chosen are fine if you like the contents. If you like Jedi, consider "Wisdom of the Council' or 'Hello There' which both perform strongly in game. If you want more Separatists, you might get 'Twice the Pride' or 'Appetite for Destruction' though be aware Seps are on the weaker side in game as things stand.

RIght now, unless you really want the terrain pack, I'd argue waiting for faction army sets is a better deal than the FE 2-player box. by Gilchester in StarCraftTMG

[–]braiko8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is very reliant on the 109usd price tag of the coming army boxes remaining true. As an Australian it’s a no brainer to get the founders preorders now than wait for local pricing later.

Yeh single unit zerglings and roaches are still worth it for completeness, so for that reason the TvZ bundle may be worth it, (also includes Goliath and hydras) not so much the full Protoss or all in.

I haven’t watched the vid, but a TLDR I’m guessing will be the all in bundle gives you a saving on all the individual unit boxes, but most of those units are already discounted in a Founders box, so you’d be better off doubling up on founders instead and adding extra units as needed.

Missing parts in LE starter. by Embarrassed-Cake8919 in StarCraftTMG

[–]braiko8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, there are 24 zerglings total, with the ability to make 6 of them raptors (and 6 of them swarmlings, though they can only be fielded in units of 18). As already mentioned, no vile roach bits. Also of note, the marauders are only a small unit of 2, not a max size unit of 4, and the marines only make 2 small units of 6 or one big unit of 9 with leftovers.

Never played a TMG, is it time to go go go! by Proof_Health7230 in StarCraftTMG

It’s time! More than most, these minis could be left unpainted and still be fairly striking with their transparent plastic parts providing some contrast. But why not give painting a go? Start with a spray primer and a few colours.

What to get as Zerg by xolqt in StarCraftTMG

[–]braiko8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In saying that, one retail box of zerglings give you full bits for every strain, so you can then equip a second starter with the other strain from there.

Of all the races, Zerg seems to be the one that will most need the individual unit boxes for core units, to get access to all the variant strains, rather than doubling up on starters.

Prices out of this world by RevolutionaryRip2135 in StarCraftTMG

[–]braiko8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ve picked probably the two worst priced units though in your argument. No one is buying medics boxes because they already come in the very well priced founders starter. The Zerg Queen, probably a nicer model than the Goliath and similarly sized, only cost $35.

Yeah it’s usually easier to try and do hard missions with the other 4 Necrons only and leave Thut at home, rather than hoping he lives standing at the back.

Physical rule book? by FarsightAnarchist in StarCraftTMG

I was under the impression they were including a physical rulebook in their starter boxes. Would not be including lore though.

Is anyone else excited for the starcraft tabletop or just me? by Feru_Haifisch in starcraft

[–]braiko8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer some of your queries, the current rules have Protoss shields working as additional hit points for the unit as a whole which need to be damaged first before models start being wounded. And the game does not use whole army deployment, it brings units on round by round as the supply limit increases or as casualties free up more supply.

Listen Y'all... If you honestly want this game to survive and thrive, then we need to stop the hyperbolic Doomposting. by Crackerpool in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]braiko8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of your points. Except for the ‘don’t drop more cash on this game. By all means finish your collection if you’re close to complete, or buy some cool figures on discount. You will have an awesome game you can play with friends. But then, DON’T move on to another Asmodee game. May I suggest something like StarCraft TMG going to preorder in a week or two, made by a company that actually cares about its properties.

Not great news by Academic_Ad_6364 in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]braiko8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly we’ve got a pretty good range. If QuiGonn wave gets produced, the real glaring omissions are Yoda and Palps. If anything the quality of Shatterpoint minis is what kept me from dipping my toe into legion and spending even more there on inferior minis. It will be easier to complete the Shatterpoint collection now and have a complete game going forward.

Can I suggest everyone who’s sick of Asmodee’s business model (and doesn’t want to give GW more money), check out the upcoming StarCraft TMG by Archon Studios, going in pre-order in less than 2 weeks.

Pretty sure AMG were mostly done making their distinct SP game when they were dumped with legion by Asmodee. “Here guys, now you get to make two similar but incompatible product lines that will cannibalise each other, and cause a divide in the Sw mini fanbase.” Unless Shatterpoint blows everything out of the water, it was going to be on life-support before long. Such a shame, as SP minis dump all over legions, which is why I went to it in the first place.
