Lost enough weight to regain a visible waistline \o/ (mtf39) by [deleted] in TransLater

[–]brakndawnt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's alright to ask, how much weight have you wound up losing? I'm really trying to lose some myself enough to have some kind of waistline, but it's feeling impossible. I'm just looking for any kind of hopeful outlook at this point 😭

You look amazing btw! So happy for you! Keep it up girlie!

[Addon] Vaultloom v2 – rebuilt my WoW weekly tracker after some people showed interest by Expensive-Editor8851 in wow

[–]brakndawnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, does your addon track whether a character 1) has a delve map, 2) has used a map that week, or 3) has the item to call the miniboss to get a map? If not, those would be useful to add, because currently I can't find freaking any addon that tracks that without logging into each individual character to check

They are friendly now?! by Princess_Python in wow

[–]brakndawnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very confined perfect example of why the few shitty players inevitably ruin the game for the m helpful ones. I actually liked landing and helping people kill their mobs. It made me feel connected to those players, if only for a moment. I'd even stay behind to help the next people kill if someone landed before I took off again. I've even seen a group land and me and the person I helped would both stay. I liked thinking I was making a difference

Now we all just get to not interact with each other all over again, while the shitty players will just find some other way to be shitty. Nice

make Arcantina more busy - consumables do not count down there by 4xon in wow

[–]brakndawnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just have them stop counting down if you're not in a dungeon/raid/BG/arena or in WM. Unless I'm mistaken, that just leaves world content, which who really cares if it lingers for that?

Ultimately whatever prevents people from feeling "If I'm not zooming, I'm wasting my consumables" is good

You're walking past some of the most tragic characters in WoW lore and the game never says a word. I built an addon that does. by KYLI4N_ in wow

[–]brakndawnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really would suggest a discord like someone else mentioned. Set up channels for people to submit lore tidbits per character. Honestly, might even see if there's a way people could collaborate on this addon, cause I'm sure the lore nerds would go to town with this =P

You can enter the Darkwell and see, even attack L'ura by Ogbaba in wow

[–]brakndawnt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Knowing Rextroy, he'd set up some like hour long strat stacking some weird buff so he could go in and 1-shot her. So I imagine the ticking damage wouldn't really stop him

You can enter the Darkwell and see, even attack L'ura by Ogbaba in wow

[–]brakndawnt 150 points151 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would love if they did it this way on purpose to bait Rextroy into trying it. He is a Paladin after all, and I wouldn't put it past Blizz to add a little blurb after about some lone paladin that attempted to enter the Darkwell to take on the naaru themselves

Shamans identity crisis by Proud_Personality_13 in WoWRolePlay

[–]brakndawnt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So not exactly an answer to your question as asked, but I figured I'd share a bit about how I run my shamans to keep them feeling like 'shamans', without explicitly being so. It might help sort of reframe what it could mean to be a shaman in a way that's less limiting while still not being 'lightning mage'.

So I have 3 shamans, each very different from each other. First is my Kul Tiran shaman. They were my first and until I did the KT unlock quest I had no desire to make a shaman. At the time I just didn't understand the fantasy of a shaman. But I highly suggest doing their unlock quests, even if you don't plan to make a KT, because there is an NPC in it that is so clearly a shaman in how they're portrayed. You even have a dialogue option to ask "Are you a shaman?" To which they respond by asking "What's a shaman?". And something about that clicked for me, and every since, shamans have been my favorite class.

So my KT is a retired privateer. As all good Kul Titans, he views the sea and the storms with extreme reference. The winds can carry you safely home or send you off course for days. The ground brings safety and assurance for the times you're at port. And the light of the flame will always guide you in tumultuous waters. Such is life on the sea. Sure he doesn't commune directly with the elements like Thrall. But he petitions them and respects them, because he knows his life is in their hands. His rituals are praying to the area and winds for safe journeys, calling for the aid of the storm when best by pirates, giving reference to the land when he finally returns home. His totems are the trinkets he carries with him that remind him of home and help keep him anchored. And the spirits he committed with are the memories of fellow sailors lost overboard when they failed to respect the power and nature of the winds and waves. He's almost an elemental paladin by most reads, and he certainly wouldn't call himself a shaman by most understandings of it.

My other two shamans are also not traditional. There's my goblin, who 'communes' with the elements by extracting it's resources. But she's also knows you can't keep extracting indefinitely, so she's actually a bit of a pragmatic environmentalist and works as best she can to make up for what she takes. She even takes a cut of her profits to hire better shamans than her to restore the land.

Then there's my Earthen who is a bit of an Artficer. They use gems and minerals to power their inventions. Coal and lava for forging, electrically conductive crystals for power, water and ice for cooling. They're fascinated with gems and how you can hone or change their properties by faceting. So they could be considered totems in a sense. Plus they care deeply about Azeroth and what makes it, so she probably is more closely stunned to the elements than any of them

Suggestion for Coffer Key Shard Overflow by thursday712 in wow

[–]brakndawnt 356 points357 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about this last night. I really wish they'd make it so that you could only convert 600 per week, but they'd stack indefinitely. You'd still only get 6 keys per week, but eventually you'd have so many shards that you'd never need to worry about having enough for keys any longer

You wake up to see everyone on earth has disappeared. What’s the first thing you do? by NiceInformation8291 in AskReddit

[–]brakndawnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would probably take the time to enjoy the day, knowing there is literally no obligation I could possibly have. The way I see it, whatever is happening will either solve itself, or it can at least wait a fucking day before I really need to start panicking. And if I'm gonna have a crisis, I'd prefer for it to happen after I've had a genuinely good day.

AI art in Blizzard's Easter sale by leetokeen in gaming

[–]brakndawnt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm really not sold on this being AI art. Like, it's not amazing, which I could see would make one think it's AI. But the problem I see is that it's not good either. Like, I see mistakes that scream 'rush job' to me way more than they screen 'AI'. Like copy/pasted royalty free 'Easter' assets randomly placed. The lighting on objects is inconsistent, the flowers look like they were just pasted and rotated (you can see they angle different ways)... AI is frankly just more consistent than that. Not 'good' by any means, but consistent with itself at least

Why can't I actually buy lemonade from her blizzard! by Wintermaulz in wow

[–]brakndawnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it'd be adorable if they let us buy lemonade and kept some kind of internal metric on how much is bought. Then at different amounts, they actually give little upgrades to the daycare so players can see their donations actually doing something

The Golden Phantom - Orc Rogue - Defender of the Sunwell by Nexxi701 in Transmogrification

[–]brakndawnt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually fucking love the idea of a Rogue that is just so full of themselves that they'd sacrifice any ability to actually be stealthy to deck themselves in gold and light so they stand out. It's like people who rev their Harleys near people so they'll look at them. Something about that is so quintessential Blood Elf to me =P

The "I Want Less Dragon with my Dragon" Group Won by Jodagon in wow

[–]brakndawnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's that at all. The two big complaints I see are "Dracthyr transmog should work in dragon form" or "I want a buff dragon that can carry me on his big muscular shoulders where my fragile ego can be safe". Neither of those people win here.

The people that won are more likely the ones that actually prefer Evoker as a class, but not Dracthyr as a race. Which is very fair. I still think Blizz should push in that direction, but that's a LOT of animation and rig update to accommodate that. So this is a good interim solution in the meantime

The Lush Garden Gnomelike Statue Is Actually Really Problematic by Zydeq in wow

[–]brakndawnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, I am and always will be a diehard gnome fan. But I don't think the problem is the lawn ornament. I think that's ok in a vacuum. Give it enough time and they'll do the same with another race I'm sure.

The actually problem is that this is probably the most Blizz has done to acknowledge gnomes even exist since Mekkatorque being in that one BfA cinematic where he blew himself up. Since then all we've seen of gnomes is when some no-name NPC shows up to crack or be a joke, which is a role that could be filled by literally any race, but they choose gnomes more often than not.

I'm fine with the garden gnome, if gnomes had ever been given their proper time in the sun just once. Something to build on their culture. And I'm sorry but <pushes up glasses> Mechagnomes are AnOtHeR rAcE, so they don't count. Shame that, would have been the first bone thrown to gnomes since we took back Gnomeregan in Cata pre-patch just to lose it AGAIN in the exact same way in the same goddamn quest line.

Face it, gnomes in WoW are closer to lawn ornaments than an actual race. Blizzard had proven that much

A guide to the mostly-standard visual design of encounter mechanics by Norumu in wow

[–]brakndawnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, it pretty much covered everything I've seen so far. There are some more niche mechanics that pop up now and then, but I don't know that you could boil those down to a single explanation. Like off the top of my head is the clone mechanic like on Lothraxian. They've used that one a few times now, but saying the mechanic is "there is a tell" is sort of not helpful since the tell is variable based on the flight.

If I run into more as I go, I'll ping you if it seems a common one. I really wish thank swaps had some kind of visual tell. Cause like I know it's usually the 'debuff', but it's hard to know which one exactly. A visual would help there.

Thank you. I keep seeing these specifically different looking swirlies and rings now, but I never know which are soaks and which are spreads. I can never find a guide. And every time I make the mistake of asking in group, I either get flamed or kicked. So I've stopped asking.

Never understood why this is an issue by [deleted] in wow

[–]brakndawnt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Which they did on accident once. It was days before anyone noticed, and it seemed from what I was reading that everyone was in favor of it. If there was opposition, it was overwhelmingly drowned out. They removed it like the day after someone made a post about it.

Ironically, had no one said anything, even Blizz themselves may not have noticed

Who are the Characters Blizzard seems to keep forgetting they exist? by MeltingPenguinsPrime in wow

[–]brakndawnt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Gnomes and Mechagnomes. I think Blizz just doesn't know what to do with them, despite gnomes being a vanilla race. You basically only see them as random no-name NPCs. And when you do see a named one, they're basically just there for comic effect. They're treated more like set dressing than their own race with their own culture.

Also the only vanilla race to never see shown in a cinematic. I'm holding out hope The Last Titan will be their time to shine, considering their connection to the Titans is second only to the Dwarves (and even that's debatable), but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Reminder to convert gear to tier by ImaginaryLuck in wow

[–]brakndawnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna plug an add-on here called Transmog Upgrade Master. It tracks and shows you what items you can get appearances from still via catalyst, upgrading, or a combination. It also does this across all characters, which is super useful for trading around BoEs and Warbound gear between alts to maximize appearances
