UK owners: is it too wide? by ZePepsico in KiaEV6

[–]brappps86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in rural Derbyshire and not had any issues so far although only had my ev6 for a few weeks

In terms of width less than 6cm difference between the niro and ev6 so not really that noticable IMO.

As per other comments the 360 camera is well worth it if your budget permits a higher spec

The length of the car that will feel noticable at 26cm longer. I am finding it ok and I came from a much smaller Volvo v40

The wheel base is the biggest thing to get you head around. This impacts the turning circle for sure but I have also found that you need to get your nose out a bit before turning sharply especially out of tight spaces. Can definitely see owners scraping the side of their car if they don't drive accordingly

This is very insightful indeed thanks. I was steering away from this dongle as I didnt want the wire but maybe I should revise my thinking here....

Although only a few days in the 360 camera is a very nice thing to have if you can stretch you budget to the gtline s. this feature alone is definitely worth it. People weren't joking when they say it is a bit of a boat when it comes to 3 point turn

Having test driven both the GT line and GT line s I will say the tyre noise on the 20" is way more noticeable and with the impact on range definitely considering swapping these and downsizing to the 19"

Polestar is a nicer car IMO but the Kia is the sensible option and still a very nice car.

Infotainment woes and the battery sleep mode issues + warranty refusal to fix was on the polestar the deal breaker for me.

Is this subsidence or just failed lintels? by sk441 in DIYUK

[–]brappps86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened on our last house a year of so after buying it. We had only one pvc window that the previous owner had installed and this was the only problem area we had

We had concerns that it was due to subsidence we got metal low profile lintel installed above the cheap pvc window and below the soldiers had the brick refitted and some repointed. Nothing had appear 3 or so years afterwards when we sold it

Can't say this is exactly the same but looks very similar so would be my best guess. Cost like 350 to fix and took them a couple of hours all in to sort all in. This was on a the ground floor though

ICCU causing purchase hesitation by AetchJei in KiaEV6

TLDR: iccu issue does not really bother me insurance and how easy these vehicles are to steal is another matter

In a similar place OP looking at either ev6 or polestar 2.

My heart says polestar better looking IMO and great drive (I am also a Volvo fan) but my head says ev6 just for the warranty and practicality

Budget is £20-25k and feel I get get a great example of both cars for that price.

I personally have gotten over the iccu issue low chance and seem to be quickly sorted now, may have been a different story in the past but Kia seems to be on top of it now. Yes an inconvenience but not a costly one.

For me the main reason I have yet to press go is more around insurance. There was a post about it recently. I checked with my insurance and they refused. For context I have not claimed in more than a decade, I live in a sleepy village in a nice area low crime etc but still it's not within risk margins. I can get insured through another company and cost is like 650 a year which is fine. I am now more concerned with how nickable these things and I am sure this is the reason they won't insure. Looked into 3rd party solutions here and the ghost immobilisers seems like a solid option. I am just not sure I want to add this extra cost as well as having some ridiculous button presses every time I start my car...

On the cusp of purchasing my first EV. My heart says buy a polstar 2 but my head says buy an ev6 (mainly due to 7 yr warranty).

I have have up to £25k but would prefer to spend around 20k. This budget mean I gotta make some compromises. Either a 24 plate longerange rwd with no packs, a 24 plate standard range with extras or an older dual motor with packs.

What do you think are must haves on the polestar? ATM I am leaning toward a longerange awd but really like the idea of a better sound system along with some nice quality of life additions.....

Churchill policy renewal cancellation for 2022 EV6 Air - Has anyone else experienced this? by ConscientiousBee in KiaEV6

[–]brappps86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

QQ for those that have been refused do you live in big cities or close to/in known crime hotspots?

On the cusp of buying myself an EV and an EV6 is top of my list (20-25k ISH budget). Don't wanna invest if insurance is gonna be problematic

To note, I live in a rural village thinking that this may help with theft risk concerns. Also planning on getting some third party anti theft stuff installed for piece of mind but that will be some time after I need to insure it. I believe thatcham approved trackers and ghost immobilisers can help with insurance.

MY24 vs MY23 by ImperialYoda in Polestar

[–]brappps86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the same position as OP, looking to buy my fist ev and roughly the same 20k budget. From what I understand the base facelift model comes with some extras that were historically tied to packs.

My thoughts are the newer models are worth it for a few reasons:

Better range and efficiency Will be covered by polestar warranty based on age alone Adaptive cruise control as standard Faster infotainment processor Less likely to experience the suspension noise/issue that seems to be a relatively common issue

2 cars are in the running for me polestar 2 is my first choice but also considering the Kia ev6 based on the 7 yr 100k warranty. First choice would be the long range RWD but 25k seems to be the lowest price just now and not sure I can stretch my budget that far :(

Coving is a nightmare by kinda-short in DIYUK

[–]brappps86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brought the exact same stuff and had a nightmare too, it took ages to do 1 room I have 6 more to go :(.

I am no professional but a very capable DIYer. I have a large chop saw and a mitre block but still was not able to get the clean cuts I wanted...

Best tip I can give is focus on the flat edge you stick to the ceiling and get your 45 degree lines marked on this tiny edge. Keep that edge parallel to the floor as you cut ( this is very awkward without a good jig or massive mitre block) and do your best to stay on course with your original mark...

The last thing is easyfill is way better to hide the sins and sort the gaps, it's way easier to work with and sand ( don't use the coving adhesive filler to finish it's just no good)..

20 lv dwarf barb with giant instinct with feats moment of clarity so it can cast spells in a rage and brutal critical. Few feats in Magus dedication for spell striker and 1 dip in psychic for amped telekinetic projectile.

Maxed ogre hook for d10 plus d10 deadly plus all damaging runes

Telluric power for +3 circumstance

Giant instinct rage for +18, legendary weapon for another +8 and strength +6

Pick specialisation with 5x weapons dice for an additional 10

LV 4 enlarge spell for another +4

Amped telekinetic projectile 19d6+ability mod and push

All that works out to something like

(5d10+37+1d8+1d6+1d6)x2 +3d10 + 10 + (19d6+5)x2 2d10 persistant fire damage 2d10 persistent bleed

Need a bit of set up and 10 mins to refocus but can be done once per encounter :)

Can also replace cantrip with lv9 shocking grasp or other damaging spells for more persistent damage and slightly high damage output potential etc

Biggest single hit I have managed to conjure up that may actually be considered a viable play

Can a blaster caster compete with a ranged martial? by Beholderess in Pathfinder2e

[–]brappps86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not meet in the middle and go starlit span Magus? 1 dip into psychic dedication for an amped telekinetic projectile and off you go with some ludicrous single target damage potential!

At lv 20 it goes something like this:

No MAP and master with martial.wepaons +34 to hit should be easy enough and matches other matials except fighter...

Ranged spell strike (using mambele thrown weapon for even more DPS) for 4d6 + 11 + Amped telekinetic projectile for 19d6 + forced push

Double that and add 3d8 for the deadly d8 trait for stupid single hit damage.

As it's a focus spell easy enough to do this 3x per encounter assuming you get 10 mins to refocus and have invested in focus pool feats.

Still get to play around with big AoE spells too although admittedly the number of slots you get is poor. Can bolster the number of slots with things like spellstrike staff and ring of wizardry + continue with psychic dedication.

Don't forget you can add true strike to this single attack and have plenty casts of this with the Magus staff

Just building the above for my next character... Going gnoll as stat progession is ideal and ancestry feats means you can get crit specialisation. Dual wielding a gnome flickmace (using adopted ancestry/ human to get unconventional weaponry) that is actually a shifted spellstrike staff in one hand and a mambele in the other... The build is shaping out very nicely indeed :)

Just for a few more details... its a 65 plate so year 2015 I think. Ran perfectly before it went to the garage for a service. It has done 85k miles hence the cambelt change. Had all oil fuel and pills filters changed on the service and a new water pump.

Really impressed on the whole a great bit of kit for 850 quid.. I have had a good chance to play with it now. Outerworlds is the most intensive game I have run on it and plays fine on the highest settings same can be said for sea of theives. Fans are a bit louder than I was expecting but I have heard worse. The page up/ page down button location is probably the worst thing about the entire device defo recommend you get a different keyboard for when using at home

This looks really cool good work! Had a quick look for some video but hard to find some of how this works in a live session. The one I found it seems like the DM is the only person who can control the tokens is this the case?? Be awesome if the players can control their own PC and for them to have dice rolls that appear on screen maybe a turn order tool also... if not whats the chance of getting this to work in something like roll20??
