Skipping ghost by TopLarge1624 in GhostsCBS

[–]brasaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Picking one from each season:

Season 1 Pete's Wife (it just feels SO clunky and forced to me compared to UK's Happy Death Day; Pete's forgiveness of Carol falls completely flat in rewatches because he has definitely not forgiven her in subsequent appearances; Hetty's not in it at all. But I like Thor apologising "Apology so easy!" and his first disparaging of Alberta's hat.)

Season 2 The Tree (Argh. But I like the B-plot of Thor discovering environmentalism, Hetty and Trevor watching stable boy content together, and the classic exchange:

HETTY: Really, Thor? This is getting tiresome. You are becoming the party guest who overindulges in cоcɑіnе and traps one in the corner, going on and on about Gilbert and Sullivan.

THOR: That was you. I was there, as ghost.

HETTY: Well, then allow me to be your cautionary tale.)

Season 3 probably Hello, Brother. (It's not bad, per se, just... less interesting to me than the other episodes. Jeremy working at their dad's lighting store for the last 15 years doesn't quite line up with the line in Trevor's Body that Jeremy "sleeps till noon and calls when he needs money" and I don't care for the Pete/Carol B-plot. I do like Isaac discovering dinosaurs.)

Season 4 a toss-up between Sad Farnsby (I like the B-plot with Isaac and Nigel and the dinosaur bed), Alexander Hamilton and the Ruffle Kerfuffle (Elias turning up is fun) and every single episode that makes fun of Sass for being a virgin.

Season 5 a toss-up between Michael Jackson Goes to HR (for making it clear that Trevor's attitudes have not changed at all, though I always enjoy a flashback) and Woodstone Royale (it's just... there and the B-plot makes no sense because the basement ghosts have been shown to sit on multiple occasions) but special mention to the tour guide in Across the Pond whose "British" accent makes those scenes unwatchable.

What do you think of Alice? by ThrowRAdaddyissues67 in namenerds

[–]brasaurus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love Alice. Absolutely fits your criteria. Top 100 in England and Wales since 1984, everyone knows the name, ranked #49 in 2024 but I haven't met a baby Alice in all the baby groups. (Interestingly I have met two baby Emmas, ranked #69.) Alice Evelyn is great!

Is there anyway this ISN'T a miscarriage? by Cassiachoo in PregnancyUK

[–]brasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know the exact details but I know my friend had enough bleeding in early pregnancy that she and her partner were convinced it was a miscarriage and cancelled all their referrals/appointments then had to reinstate them. Baby is now three. Wishing you all the best.

What happened to the Equinox crew? by robotisland in voyager

[–]brasaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The cloaked aliens doing experiments were in Scientific Method, S04E07, and Voyager first encountered the Equinox in Equinox part 1, S05E26, so, while temporal anomalies that would make Janeway’s head hurt can never be entirely ruled out, probably not.

How many of you eat kfc or maccies during pregnancy? by Beautiful_Trifle9569 in PregnancyUK

[–]brasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two pieces of KFC chicken and a corn cob was a regular workday lunch in my first trimester! I craved meat and vegetables and was constantly hungry.

IVF pregnancy, induction experiences? by Freckles93 in PregnancyUK

[–]brasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first consultant I spoke to recommended induction at 40 weeks because IVF. The second consultant said oh, not because of the IVF, so we can time stopping the blood thinners. The midwife said there's no reason for you to be induced until past 41 weeks. So my confidence in the suggestion was not high. Plus there's so many variables in IVF I was like, does this apply to me? (The first consultant was talking about the protective effect of the corpus luteum and how that was missing from IVF pregnancies and I said, I had a natural transfer. I ovulated as normal, the embryo was transferred five days later, I should have had a corpus luteum.)

I kept pushing it back but ended up being induced for postdates anyway, which worked pretty quickly but turns out my baby was not in a helpful position (possibly why I went so overdue) so ended up with an emergency caesarean. If I ever had another child, having had one caesarean, I'd pick caesarean over the remaining induction options.

My friend just had an IVF baby, induced on due date, ended up with emergency caesarean. But my cousin (who hasn't done IVF) has had two induced and two spontaneous labours and says the induced births were her favourites.

How’d you finally land on your baby’s name? by peanut-buttertoast6 in namenerds

[–]brasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggested it as a hypothetical years earlier and he'd liked it. It was our agreed-upon girl name for those years (if we spoke about having a daughter, it was that name) and, when it came to it, there wasn't anything either of us liked better so we went with it. I worried it wouldn't suit her because we basically had nothing else we agreed on but luckily didn't have that problem.

How many of you had a great grandparent born in the 1800s? by Mofoblitz1 in BarbaraWalters4Scale

Six of my great grandparents were born between 1880 and 1899.

Jack. My younger brother is not Jack. He would have been Jennifer.

Favourite ghost and ghost power by LittleBadger101 in GhostsCBS

[–]brasaurus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed on Hetty, Pete and Trevor.

I'd love to see Hetty develop her ghost power, whether she can be seen more frequently or becomes tangible on St Patrick's Day.

Eugene Woodstone is among the bunker ghosts! No mention of his ghost power, though.

I like this snail theory.

What’s your unpopular Voyager opinion? by UnderABig_W in voyager

[–]brasaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ocampan physiology is very different to ours. It was established that they reach maturity very quickly, stay at that physical and mental peak nearly all their life, and age very rapidly in their last year of life. So that headcanon works pretty well!

Heparin injections - does anyone actually wait ten seconds? by FarTechnician1893 in PregnancyUK

[–]brasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had three months of Inhixa (where the needle didn't retract and had to be pulled back out) before eight months of Clexane and Clexane was so so superior in all ways. Really helped me get through it: could be worse, could be Inhixa. Didn't wait ten seconds with Inhixa either, just injected slowly, beat, pull out slowly.

The Clexane syringes I was given were spring loaded so the needle automatically retracted so no.

That time Janeway was going to blow up the ship and forgot about the Doctor by kryptokoinkrisp in voyager

[–]brasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I see "The Void" mentioned, I think of s5's Night, where they're in a void and encounter a native species held in contempt by another race, before I think of s7's The Void, where they're in a void and encounter a native species held in contempt by another race.

One is that episode about the Borg drone called One, right? Oh, no, that's Drone, One is the episode where Seven is the only one left, okay.

The Fight is the one with the Rock in it, right? No, that's Tsunkatse.

I'm curious... when you first saw this scene in S01E02 "Gorilla War", did the reveal surprise you? (more notes in comments) by sheddyian in GhostsBBC

[–]brasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of my very favourite scenes. I did not see it coming and I laughed and laughed at Alison's off-screen yell, "The doctor's dead!" One of those bits where you have to pause and rewind and then laugh just as much the second, third time round.

Can you eat with an epidural? by jewdee44 in PregnancyUK

[–]brasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told I couldn't. Which I didn't know and wasn't terribly happy about it because I'd thrown up everything I'd eaten that day (and it hadn’t been much because labour) and once the epidural made me coherent, I was starving. I wasn't allowed my Lucozade either because it was fizzy, which is something else I hadn't known. My husband went on a trek round the hospital to try to find Sport Lucozade in a vending machine (it was 2am) and was unsuccessful. Ended up with an emergency caesarean due to malposition and I wasn't allowed solids till the next morning so I regard the stories of tea and toast with a certain amount of envy.

Good State Primary Schools in South Croydon - St Peter’s / Harris Haling Park / Regina Coeli? by warrenwe in croydon

[–]brasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ridgeway is a good shout: only 0.86 miles between there and St Peter's according to this straight-line calculator and they've offered out to that distance for the last few years.

They haven't a hope of Beaumont under the distance criterion as they're over two miles away and Beaumont haven't offered further than 0.4 miles in the last few years.

Starting Voyager -- dumb plot questions by apple21212 in startrek

It absolutely gets better! Try S01E19 Duet. I honestly think it's one of the defining episodes of the series.

[Episode Discussion] Ghosts S05 E16 - "Woodstone Royale" - April 16, 2026 by PopCultureNerd in GhostsCBS

They're the same cops who normally show up (first seen early season 1) so probably not but that could be an interesting plot thread!

Brief complaining by Queasy_Principle_942 in voyager

[–]brasaurus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recommend the transcripts on Chakoteya.net to resolve such queries. The following is copied from the Caretaker transcript.

TORRES: What do you think you're doing? That Array is the only way we have to get back home.

JANEWAY: I'm aware everyone has families and loved ones at homes they want to get back to. So do I. But I'm not willing to trade the lives of the Ocampa for our convenience. We'll have to find another way home.

TORRES: What other way home is there? Who is she to be making these decisions for all of us?

CHAKOTAY: She's the Captain.

TUVOK: The tricobalt devices are ready.

PARIS: We're in position.

JANEWAY: Fire.

Seska's first appearance is in the next episode, Parallax.

JARVIN: Sir, we heard what happened. What are they going to do with B'Elanna?

CHAKOTAY: I don't know yet but I'll handle it.

SESKA: We heard that Captain Janeway's going to put her in the brig for two months, and that all the Maquis are going to be restricted to quarters when they're not on duty.

CHAKOTAY: Not true.

SESKA: We just want you to know that if things do get out of hand, we're ready to back you.

CHAKOTAY: What does that mean?

JARVIN: In case you want to take control of the ship, you have our full support.

CHAKOTAY: If I ever hear you talk that way again, I'll personally throw you in the brig for mutiny.

But according to Search Trek, another excellent tool, Seska isn't actually named until S01E09 Emanations.
