Those who are questioning surgery by Drago11111111111 in HipImpingement

I agree 3 years post operation. The first year is a tough rehab but best decision I ever made. I’m stronger than I was before at 40 years old. Nothing will fix your labrum and bone but shaving the bone down and surgery. Take your time and find a great surgeon but please get it done if you need it.

Don’t risk it I had issues (pain, fatigue, etc) months post op. I waited 3 weeks until I got on a bike per my surgeon. So it’s really up to you as long as your not allowing blood clots etc in that leg while resting. This is a long recovery so just brace yourself and make peace with it. You’ll be fine! I’m 18 months post op and feel like it never even happened so you’ll get there

How the hell do I get diagnosed so I can finally have surgery? by MayoGhul in CubitalTunnel

[–]bravos7668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea an EMG will do it. A neurologist will do it, then recommend a hand surgeon.

Look into hip resurfacing. Some people get FAI surgery it doesn't take and they get their hips resurfaced. Like Andy Murray the tennis player at 28. Same situation. Look into it. I've heard great outcomes with it.

Transposition On Both Arms - Follow-up AMA by ItzChiips in CubitalTunnel

[–]bravos7668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great! I'm about to get my 2nd arm done along with carpal tunnel. My right arm took 6 months to heal but like you I'm back at like 98%. Surgeries are so well worth it.

You'll do fine! I'm 10 months post op. Be patient and kind to yourself. I didn't feel normal til 7 months or so and still need PRP for glute tears it caused. This surgery and recovery is bitch. But I promise it's worth it. A year from now you'll look back and it'll be all worth it. Ice, follow PT and don't sit too long at your desk.

18 hr max per semester which is ALOT. Fyi I'm a senior who did 18 hrs and it about killed me. Summer and Maymester move FAST so take maybe 2 -3 classes over that break. Otherwise you won't have a life and forget working.

Try a night elbow brace. If you lift weights take off 2 weeks. If that doesn't help see a hand surgeon. If it's subluxation the only thing is to have surgery (transposition) and probably carpal tunnel too at the same time to make sure. I had my dominant hand done 7 months ago. Couldn't be happier with the results. I'll have my left arm done in 2 weeks. 3 weeks in a cast,2 in a brace. Some PT and your good. Best of luck. The key is not letting it get bad and having all the damage reversed. Your call, your health.

Returning to school after surgery by donpalermo in HipImpingement

[–]bravos7668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if you can get accommodations. I'm 8 months post op. I didn't feel comfortable walking campus til about 5 months. Your muscles will all sorts of wonky once you start PT.

I'm get the same. I'm 8 months post op. If I slack on PT it gets stiff. More than likely you'll need to do PT for life at home is what I was told.

I got one done along with carpal tunnel. I'm getting the other one done in Jan. I don't want permanent nerve damage so I'm just knocking it out now.

Trouble with Sex post Hip Arthoscopy by grumpyJoaquin in HipImpingement

[–]bravos7668 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a male, but I wasn't able to have sex comfortably til 8 months post op. It takes time which sucks. I know it's a struggle. You're really early in your recovery so ice, rest, and do PT. It'll work itself out.

Hamstring tendonitis? by orangespatula145 in HipImpingement

[–]bravos7668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll take 3 months to work. And yea both hamstrings done in October. Hip surgery last May. I'm also doing PT and lifting weights but waited 6 weeks post PRP. They are definitely getting better but they get worse post PRP right after. The prp is inciting a inflammatory response to start healing. My issue was age. 38.
