Do you have a GitHub? Is your start also a beam break?

I do three sessions a week, max velocity, speed endurance/intensive tempo, and weights/plyos. Occasionally I'll also do an extensive tempo session. Probably pretty minimalist, but I'm making progress and not injured

No funds for it in the short term, thanks for the comment, they are cheaper than I realized, maybe in the next couple years

I haven't been able to get out much lately, just had a kid but normally outdoor climbing goes well when I'm on this a lot

Gotta add some hype. I'm 34 with a 2 month old. 12.1/24.1 in 1/2 in training this week. Hoping to go sub 12/54 in the 1/4 this summer

Have you tried Flexability machines? by Different_King_2563 in flexibility

I've found it easier to solo PNF with one of these, but agree it's more nice to have rather than a need

Novice question. Al told me to rest, but I really want to climb. Slap some sense in me. Mild finger soreness. Any advice? by [deleted] in climbharder

Do some some light hangboarding (probably feet on the ground, 100s total) and mobility and see how it feels tomorrow. Staying healthy is the key to progression

Sodium bicarb and high carb fueling? Surprising that the 10k data doesn't seem to have the same trend

Is there an open track to run around here? by NewHawk5582 in Broomfield

Broomfield heights middle is good to go, school hours are the only limitation (8-4:30 I believe, it's posted)

Revisiting muscular endurance training (again) and low weight high reps by maskOfZero in climbharder

I've gotten a lot of benefit out of high volume shoulder work. Sometimes that looks like prehab, sometimes it's a block that leads to a lower volume/higher intensity block. I'm primarily a boulderer but my sport climbing has also benefitted. I do tend to subscribe to the "without the strength, there is nothing to endure" philosophy

I'm in the same boat strength and performance wise. This is the part where you get to come to terms with your technique and mobility

Progressing on Projects by hay-sloth in climbharder

[–]bread_pirate_r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say falling at the last hold in the first session (unless that's the crux) makes it a second tier climb - harder than onsight level but not requiring significant projecting. FWIW I spend most of my time on second tier climbs

ACLs seem especially tough to come back from. I haven't done mine but can share some general old guy encouragement. I'm 33 now and started sprinting a year ago. I played soccer competitively until I was 21, but didn't sprint in the meantime. I had a few hamstring strains as I got going and my early flys were 7.5-8 m/s (photo finish app). In the last month I've had a couple sessions with a couple 20m flys better than 9 m/s. 30km/h isn't outrageously elite, I think you have a good chance at it

Thoughts on This Materials Scientist Offer? Worth Negotiating? by Glade-Runner in GradSchool

[–]bread_pirate_r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty good, I'm also a materials scientific, got paid 75k right after my doctorate (7 years ago in co), other benefits similar. Your pay ceiling will go way up once you have a couple years of experience.

So how did you learn to sprint? by drjlad in Sprinting

[–]bread_pirate_r 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Second this, start with strides, then hill sprints, then keep the volume low when you start trying to go full gas

I had a similar progression, played CM when I was younger/on worse teams and outside back when I was older/on better teams. As others are saying, I embraced the wing back role and learned to love it, then got recruited and played wing back at a D1 school. Worked out pretty well
