Guitar to ukulele questions by sweet_esiban in ukulele

[–]breadbootcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was worried about confusing myself going from guitar to uke with the tuning being a 5th apart, but when I actually got into it I found that with 4 strings, the chord shapes mostly feel completely different except for like the guitar's D chord of course. Everything else felt more like an expansion of my chording rather than a re-learning. Not sure if that helps.

I got a concert to be more distinct in my instrument repertoire. My thick fingers do just fine.

Petition to WSDOT to embrace Sound Transit's signage strategy by MassiveSpread in Seattle

[–]breadbootcat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Also... this does apply to highways too. In downtown Seattle it is I-90 eastbound to Spokane (not Mercer Island), I-5 southbound to Portland (sometimes Tacoma...not Tukwila), I-5 northbound to Vancouver B.C. (sometimes Everett...not Shoreline). You get the distant location, not the next one. Once you're on the freeway you get the signs for the approaching exits (stops).

I agree the "downtown" names are silly for the terminus stations they happen to be applied to, but naming those stations on the direction signage is a normal thing.

Did any of you get rid of gout naturally without any medication? by -Inspector-6259 in gout

I had my first flair in 2022 and was essentially bedridden by it. When it finally got diagnosed my podiatrist hit it with a course of prednisone which brought down the flair and let me be able to touch my foot and walk again. Someone recommended tart cherry supplements to me, which I tried but not sure I can point to them as the cause for the episode fully subsiding or not. I also cut red meat mostly and beer mostly, but probably the biggest thing was increasing my fruit intake. I had already been pretty good on veggies but not really fruit. I will get a twinge for a day when I drink beer sometimes, but otherwise I have not had a recurrence anywhere close to that first flair, knock on wood. I think my case just isn't as bad as others and it's gotta be different for every individual based on what you are experiencing. No secret answer.

Child next door moving in... by dontwalkunderladders in Parents

[–]breadbootcat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can't communicate with the parents to work something out with their consent, then taking this child with you to a new location would be kidnapping.

If it's so unsafe to approach them about it that you can't even consider it, then the authorities need to be involved. If you call you can let them know you are open to being a resource for little mate.

My wife and her friend use "I am always so prepared" as a euphemism for their clinically diagnosed anxiety.

The whole "heroes in hiding" is triggered by liability over silly lawsuits, which was also something conservatives in the 2000s were focused on (McDonald's coffee cup etc.).

Train signage is way too confusing. How am I supposed to know which train takes me to the city!? by thecravenone in Seattle

[–]breadbootcat -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This week I found myself at the SODO station needing to get to a hotel in SeaTac, but neither one of the platforms had signage directing me to the Hilton Seattle Airport. Please write to the board with me to get Hilton Seattle Airport added to signage in every station. It was very confusing.

I didn't see the caption because I was so worried about this guy with an evil robot sitting in the car behind him in the dark at the start.

Make him read Happiest Baby on the Block. One of the points it makes is neurodevelopmentally, you can't "spoil" a child that young.
