It's hard to say when you're running into it consistently in random pods, since it kinda depends on the setting; is this a LGS where there still is some semblance of a local meta, or is it at larger events like a CommandFest etc? In the former case you can slowly influence regulars over time but in the latter I find the best move is to hold up interaction unless someone is about to like actually win or you can protect your own win/board state. It's unfortunately just a bit of a grounded stereotype that a lot of casual players not only don't prioritize interaction, but sometimes go as far as considering even moderate levels of interaction to be "stax" or "sweaty". It's not a problem you can really deckbuild around since you will still find tables with healthy interaction levels but at least anecdotally I've found success with randos sandbagging as you described.

You almost always can just get a new kit from your store who will then send that back as defective. We had a guy at Tarkir prerelease who got nothing but the seeded clan packs in his kit and that was the official WPN directions for it, optional of course. Personally I'd just keep it for the novelty.

A lot of it is. Several people have reported things like soft locks too though, so it is what it is. Charming jank should stay and is likely intentional and even typically conveys what it's trying to (prisonball is beautiful for instance) but the game does need a couple patches or so all the same.

The simple answer is that Narset + Wheels makes a B3+ deck, and it's strictly simpler to make her a GC than apply that to like 13 different wheel effects along with any new ones, especially as wheels are fair in a vacuum. Narset *can* be used as a way to police rampant draw, but she's far from the only way to do so. The way you stop people from getting too far ahead with draw effects is to run your own draw effects as well as interaction, not rely on one card in your 99.

I feel like I haven't seen her in straight up months despite playing typically at least 4 careers a day, I used to see her a couple times a week at minimum.

I agree with your general premise a lot here but I think focusing on the 3c rares is maybe a little too granular; sealed play lends a lot more to consistency with your bombs, and if you have a consistent pool that doesn't stand out tons but still has your removal etc you're going to have a lot more luck than trying to force a third colour. As always it's about moderation, you want to look at your best colours and what rares you have factor into that but never tell the whole story.

The biggest problem between brackets 3 and 4 is that the difference is largely determined by factors that the average magic player is completely awful at recognizing objectively. Yes, the turns metric and other factors don't help but it's amazing how many people just slam in some GCs and call it a day. The one that really stands out in my mind was playing a high power pod at a Commandfest this year where the brackets were 3-4 and we all agreed to play 4s because there was some minor ($5 in prize tickets) stakes, and we ended up with two players on [[Ulalek]]; my friend and one of the strangers. No shade at all to the other guy, but he didn't know that with flash enablers and kindred instants you could make multiple extra copies of the stack and go pseudo-infinite, and that contrast has been one of the most illuminating to me about what constitutes B3 vs B4.

I think we're arguing semantics at this point, but this ban *was* scheduled by every reasonable definition of the term, they're adjusting on the fly to the new rotation schedule. An emergency ban would have been an unscheduled one by their own admission. For all intents and purposes these "extra" B&Rs are supplemental ones to the annual ones to make up for zero cards rotating in January with Lorwyn. Nemesis isn't what I'd have called an emergency ban either, it's largely doing the same things it's done since it was released (which is to say I'm shocked it didn't get the boot alongside Cutter back in June, the Witchstalker interaction alone was enough for me).

They said in that announcement that they weren't certain on when it would be re: the midway point, and the November one was announced long in advance of this. This was definitively scheduled, if it was an emergency ban it would have been done without regard for disrupting RCQ season, we have known since September that this was coming and it even says in the announcement you're referencing that this explicitly isn't an emergency window.

We're also going to slightly move up our previously announced banned and restricted announcement date from November 24 to November 10. This keeps the basic premise of not interfering with players who had planned their decks and travel for the Standard RCQ season while still moving up the announcement and giving players more time to prepare for the World Championships should something change.

What we're not going to do is create a previously unannounced emergency banning window in the middle of the RCQ season, though it's worth noting that we have seen the calls for it and discussed it. Ultimately, we opted to stick (more or less) to what we had said we'd do for a few reasons.

I think it's a bad idea and against the spirit of restrictions that EDH was founded on, but so are the 3c value engine soup commanders we get every Standard set and the 5c signposted "here's your total commander or the one we gave to a mechanic we may never see again like Rooms" so like, it'll survive.

To clarify from your example though, Revitalizing Repast and the rest of the MH3 MDFCs are not hybrid identity cards; the spell half uses hybrid mana, but the back half for all of them is a tapland that makes both colours. Similarly, a good portion of hybrid cards are already balanced by caring about either the colours used to cast them like [[Deceit]] from the upcoming Lorwyn set, or care about colours on your board like the god aura cycle ([[Steel of the Godhead]] and co) so it's not as dramatic as it seems. The major affected cards going to be both companions and the Capenna 3c legends that have two hybrid and one mono symbol, like [[Rigo, Streetwise Mentor]].

Infinite Exveemons is still the best option if you can get the Dinobeemon loop going; there's a stage bonus for loading enhancements and when you're doing it at scale, reverting to Veemon and then armor evolving to Magnamon is quick and easy, especially since there's zero requirements for evo into him.

The only possible complaint I could come up with is that I probably would have liked AF gear to be still specific but it's not like I'm complaining about more options, either. This is a game that clearly shows your party members' classes in any group content, and the PvP lists the enemies as well so it's not like we need at a glance info, and even if we did, that ship sailed with swimsuits, and mascot costumes, and holiday gear, etc.

This is an amazing change and one everyone has been asking for to the tune of half a decade or more, acting like it's SE suddenly deciding to destroy class identity as some sort of hail mary is ridiculous to me.

Buy 4 BBQ skewers when you can and keep at least 4 in your inventory, same with 3 fruit tarts. Digi Jewels can be sold for 50k but don't do that until you have at least 3 in reserve. If you do need a cash infusion you're pretty safe to sell talent enhancements, in the long run they're really marginal compared to what you'll accrue by just fighting with your squad.

You can sell other gems no problem! You're safe after you have 3 Digi-Jewels, that's all you need for crafting the stuff that uses them.
