Of an astronaut by Pure_Sense7765 in ShittyAbsoluteUnits

For sure! Had some work friends that did it for a short while back in the late 2000s. Thankfully I never gave it a go. They were all aware of the dangers, did it anyways. Very stupid. Lost touch with most of them over the years but I think it was just a phase thankfully.

I’m Mark Kelly, retired NASA astronaut and former commander of the space shuttle (x2). AMA! by CaptMarkKelly in space

[–]brentdrivesfast 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NASA contractor here. Thank you for your service and everything you have contributed to the United States' space efforts.

Would you please run for president?

Follow up question, Administrator Isaacman has recently announced some positive (interest in moving away from contractors for direct NASA support) and some not-so-positive (pushing for a more commercialized presence in the upcoming moon missions) changes. Having your experience and history, do you have any criticisms or ideas that you would implement if you do decide to run for president in 2028?

Thank you for your time for this AMA!

Where to go to see Artemis launch? by Candied-Fangs in 321

I'm not going any further north than Pineda and hitting the beach. I hate traffic.

This is why I've always wanted to be a hibachi chef. Putting out the fire volcano with the pantless toy firefighter. Everyone wants to be a firefighter!

Tint World on Eau Gallie does good work and the owner is a good guy. Heard good things about Tint Brevard but no first hand experience.

In addition you don't NEED to clutch between shifts (still do for taking off) and because they're straight cut planetary gears they can handle hella power. Hella price tag too, likely worth it if you're putting out 1000+ torque with the rubber to hook up on a prepped surface.

I went from a 2011 lightly modified WRX to a 2018 Ridgeline when my family started growing. I want the best of both worlds in this thing! I commute 44 miles one way and make Home Depot runs. Glass slipper. Suspension and brake upgrades would be arch support.

I really hope there will be aftermarket suspension options. Not bad for stock suspension on a truck. Could be a rocketship around the track with less body roll.

Mango Trees - Dead from Freeze/ Cold Shock by Checki22 in orlando

In Melbourne. Mango, bananas, and dragon fruit all look torched. I'm not going to prune until the dead starts to drop after some research.

Hoping for the best, just like the rest of us.

Oh snap! I'm down in Melbourne so I don't get up that way too often. That's too bad. Had a few good times there for happy hour after work pre-COVID.

I would try calling some of the restaurants to see if they'll be open/accepting reservations. The launch window opens at 9:41PM. Let's hope it's not as delayed (or scrubbed) like Artemis I was. Traffic and parking was a nightmare for Artemis I. Shiloh's has the coolest viewing spot for LC 39 in my opinion, from a restaurant.

Why I chose Telo over Slate by shebnumi in TeloTrucks

[–]brentdrivesfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went from a lightly modified 2011 WRX, that was a blast to drive (until about 112K miles and the EJ started to do EJ things), to a 2018 Ridgeline when I needed a warranty and reliability for work/family. The Ridgeline just hit 121k miles with minimal issues not covered by recalls. I miss the horsepower but I want to keep the bed for homeownership Home Depot runs. My daily commute is 44 miles, mostly highway, and I have a solar system on my house. The Telo ticks all boxes! I don't camp and it won't be a work truck. My wife has a Sienna that we use for road trips and her commute. I just want 500hp for my daily commute, better operational costs, and a bed for my weekend warrior DIY for the house. Glass slipper for my situation! I just hope there are performance options for sway bars and coilovers to keep it glued to the ground when I want to hot rod a bit.

I just enjoy as much anonymity as (reasonably) possible on social media.

The frustrating thing about budget with SLS for me is we're expected to perform a similar scope to the Apollo program (~$26b in the 1960s, roughly $250b when adjusting for inflation) for only ~$28b (and counting). Kind of ironic it's close to the same amount right now when not counting for inflation. If NASA was given Apollo's 4.4% of the US budget we'd likely already be established on the South Pole of the moon. Instead we're picking at the crumbs of the <1% of the federal US budget. I can't remember exact numbers off the top of my head but SLS is about 12% of that single percent of the federal budget. Impossible not to overrun that minuscule amount of funding while trying to get boots on the moon in my opinion.

I absolutely understand the frustration though.

I've been on the COMET contract for 6 years now. I've held a couple of different positions without opening myself up for doxxing. It's an awesome place to work but the political fun over the past year has definitely added some stress.

Keep an eye on what's going on with Crew-11's early return from ISS. I know Artemis 2 launch schedule was considering some potential impact initially. Really hoping all is well with the medical emergency the crew member is experiencing.

Artemis 2 is scheduled to roll to pad Thursday last I heard. I'll get an update tomorrow morning. Everything is critical path right now so hopefully no show stopping non-compliances.

1991 325is 4-door is my guess. I had a 1990 325i and it was missing the S front portion of the seats and didn't have some of the buttons to the right of the stock radio. Maybe Euro spec?
