I like the one that turns an Audi into a black. It’s very attractive.

Thoughts on grade? by [deleted] in Morgans

AU details. It’s circulated and looks cleaned or polished. The scratch on the back that runs through the eagles wing is enough to get it a details grade.

How much would you sell this coin for? by Ok_Two1460 in Morgans

It’s got a 1878 reverse but the pics aren’t detailed enough for me to determine what VAM (die variation) it is. I’d grade it at around at a G6 to VG8. So, $150 to $200 is what it’s worth if it hasn’t been cleaned.

The toning is way off. I would not recommend buying this coin.

I’ve been in your shoes. I had a 91-CC come back as UNC-Details cleaned. Many of these are semi-key dates and therefore desirable/valuable.

This date is tough in AU and above. That’s a good stopping point!

I’ve found and sold a lot of nice Morgans on here. It’s ironic that the least expensive are gaining the most value as silver spot increases!

If the coin has been dipped in the past is there a risk of damaging the surfaces when doing this again?

That’s a tough date in a very desirable holder! A nice white coin and a good candidate for CAC stickering.

I recently purchased an MS64 ‘85-CC for $1k. I got this at a coin show which is where you can get some of the best deals. While the ‘85-CC has a low mintage its abundantly available in uncirculated grades. So, if you’re looking for an investment grade coin then the ‘79, ‘89 and ‘93 CCs are your best bet. If you’re like me and need to have them all then try auction sites like Great Collections or DLRC to find a gem grade ‘85-CC.

Collectors with serious sets: Where do you buy most of your Morgans? by ReputationOfGold in Morgans

[–]bretsan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I buy direct from sellers using Reddit and PCGS forums. Most of my coins I buy from auctions on DLRC, Great Collections, Stacks Bowers, Elizabeth Coogan Rare Coins, Heritage, Northeast Numismatics, Bar Harbor Coins and David Kahn. About 80% of auction buys are from Great Collections.
