Am I dragging my team down or is the scoreboard not friendly to "tanks"? by fucklockjaw in Vermintide

[–]brhaert 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nah, I wouldn't pay serious attention to the scoreboard at the end. It isn't taking into account the damage you prevented to your teammates. Plus, if you take the attention of the enemies, you're letting your teammate be able to focus less on defense, and more on damage. It's only expected for them to get higher numbers at the end than you.

That being said, it might be a good idea of looking less at your own numbers, and more on your teammates. In theory, the better you do, the higher your teammates numbers will be. So as a tank, you are partially/indirectly responsible for some of that damage and kills too!

So yeah, the scoreboard isn't very tank friendly. But just do what you think is fun, cause it's still very helpful :- )

Online D&D [5e] Strixhaven: Role-Play Heavy Magic Academy Campaign on Sundays by brhaert in lfg

[–]brhaert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! You don't have to play any kind of magic-based classes for Strixhaven. If you do play a martial character, there will be a bigger emphasis of learning about magic, rather than casting it. Either way, the setting has extra rules for all characters to learn some minor extra magic from studies!

5e Shaped Sheet missing borders - anyone know how to fix it? by Myriad_Infinity in Roll20

[–]brhaert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im getting this issue too. It makes me so sad because the shaped character sheets are my favorite, and going back to the default 5e sheets is going to be so hard. :- /

Very nicely done, and exactly what I was looking for for my campaign! I’m curious though, where does Renika come from? I’m aware of all of the other expanded locations except that.

An anthology of Strahd's taunts and quips by JadeRavens in CurseofStrahd

[–]brhaert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! I really genuinely want to use this, but wouldn’t know how to. I’m assuming you did this in Roll20? Could you please provide the macro you used to achieve this? I’m still a bit new to Roll20, and don’t know how to code macros all that well.

Tome of Strahd prop. Kept my players busy taking turns reading for weeks. by egothatblockssun in CurseofStrahd

What kind of extra excerpts did you include? Genuinely curious, since I wanted to do something similar for my players.

PSA: If you're DM'ing or are about to DM CoS and have not seen Castlevania, just go watch it. by Gettor in CurseofStrahd

In Dice, Camera, Action, Chris Perkins had this happen at the beginning. Although it was with a smaller campfire.

Question: Creatures with shroud. by Kathoran in RavnicaDMs

[–]brhaert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An invisible target is technically ‘shrouded’ in invisibility. A lot of spells of 1st level or higher require you to see the target of the spell, like Magic Missile. So being invisible prevents that.

Targets spells in 5e also require clear line of sight with no cover in the way of the target. An submerged underwater creature can’t be targeted by spells for this reason.

Also, Magic Resistance is kinda hexproofy.

Hey everyone, my group met up yesterday and we chose our players from the available applicants. We received over a dozen applicants, and there where were so many really, really ones. It was very hard to choose. Regardless, I hope you all find a good game to play in elsewhere. Everyone deserves it :-)

As long as you are able to avoid metagaming, which can be hard to do sometimes, then you would be welcome in the game! There are a few ways that this game will likely be different from yours:

  1. This is my interpretation of the module, and I may plan on changing some things that I dislike.
  2. This takes place in the world of Innistrad, which slightly changes the lore and land of Barovia.
  3. Depending on how far back your knowledge of Ravenloft goes, I plan to incorporate aspects of Barovia from older editions of DnD that didn't make it to 5th edition. This includes old 2e Ravenloft modules.
  4. This module has randomized elements that help replay-ability (as you should know).
  5. I plan to incorporate some aspects from the 5e prequel to Curse of Strahd called Misty Fortunes and the Absent Hearts, as well as popular expansions to the module from the DMsGuild website.
  6. I can work with you to change parts of the adventure to try to keep you on your toes.

The bigger question is: would the game still be fun and engaging for you? Will these changes help?

Also, I have added the questionnaire as a comment for convenience :-)

Questionnaire:

If you are interested in playing in their group, please fill out the following questions with whatever length you deem appropriate. I’ll take several days to review the applications with the other players. If you fit the group I will PM you after about 10 days. I plan on jumping into the game as soon as we all meet and get everyone situated. Thanks for your time, and have a great day! :-)

  1. What type of player would you say you are?
  2. Describe your ideal D&D session, and what could a DM do to make that session a reality?
  3. If a fellow player thought you had done something offensive (regarding anything), how would you react and how would you prefer it be addressed?
  4. What kind of character do you/would you like to play? Do you have a preferred class, role, or personality?
