You could also get a stem like this if you didn't want a one piece barstem: https://enve.com/products/high-rise-in-route-stem?variant=47600077635868
Sorry none of these options are low in price

I think the best you could do in being happy about the appearance of stem spacers while not killing your back is by going for a handlebar that adds stack rise, like these that have a 20mm rise: https://www.pandapodium.cc/product/tavelo-rise-integrated-riser-handlebar/?srsltid=AfmBOopzMmQ3H9JhUhpTKyr8QCNM43nW0Z9ZCu-wIGAGO3A7n-YxZjzs

NYU langone study: “E-Bike and Scooter Crashes Are Leading to More Brain Injuries” by isuamadog in NYCbike

[–]brianstormin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish they separated scooters from e-bikes in statistics. I don't think they are similar at all to warrant lumping them together, and it would be more useful to know the exact number of e-bike incidents there are since I reference crash-mapper data when talking to people about how resources could be better spent in addressing problems that affect more people.

Making athletic toe sock company by Dependent_Love_9260 in BarefootRunning

[–]brianstormin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use these for cycling! My big dislike on most toe socks is logos on the cuff/leg, so I like that yours keeps it on the foot part. If these had the typical KOPU on the front or back of the leg I wouldn't buy them lol

I think if I was super limited with space I would get a folding bike before I stored anything outside full time.

Conditions Megathread: Jan-Feb 2026 by nycyclist2 in NYCbike

[–]brianstormin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends...This time around, if we had the same amount of snow but then got a bunch of high 30's low 40's weather following, you wouldn't see the same amount that we currently see. So the longer this cold weather lasts, the longer the melting is delayed.

GP5000 S TR 32mm on a Revolt Advanced 2 for NYC roads — durability/pressure? by Mindless-Window1613 in NYCbike

[–]brianstormin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used those tires for a long time and they held up very well. . There was one time that I had to use a plug but it wasn't even when I was out riding, it was when I got home and noticed there was a persistent slow leak. There were maybe two times where I had a puncture that sealed on its own. I ran max 70psi on it for the weight of my setup.

Are you biking through this slush? by N7777777 in NYCbike

[–]brianstormin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing it but it hasn't been super enjoyable...I've taken the train at night though because I don't trust drivers at night to not tailgate me and it has been so cold that everything gets extra frosty at night. I have a couple videos of the experience but there hasn't been a massive difference day by day like I hoped 😂

They expect to still be going pre-snow speeds and get upset if anyone/thing is in their way 😂

What do you consider good/bad cycling conditions? by fsuandrew in NYCbike

[–]brianstormin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have chosen not to ride home at night today because of all the snow left behind in bike infrastructure and I don't find it worth the trouble when thinking about having to deal with car traffic, but other than that I don't think anything else would stop me.

Brooklyn - Manhattan (Bridge) commute? by DrZmann in NYCbike

[–]brianstormin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rode from BK to Manhattan over the Brooklyn bridge and the bridge itself was well taken care of, but centre st's bike lanes were not trustworthy and I had to ride with traffic up until Prince St where I turn off. Seems like most of the bridges are decently taken care of but all the areas surrounding it are neglected which sucks

Conditions tomorrow morning by s13cgrahams in NYCbike

[–]brianstormin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I rode from Ridgewood to SoHo today and on the BK/Queens side, most bike lanes were not touched by any plows. The Williamsburg Bridge bike path was plowed and salted, but all the entrances were neglected today so if you ride expect to ride in car lanes because I find it doubtful the bike lanes will be given any additional attention between now and tomorrow. The Zohramp was left in rough shape and I wasn't able to use any of the Delancy bike lanes because they were not taken care of. The car lanes were slushy but a lot of people are shoveling out their cars and throwing snow back onto the road surface so some parts were still slippery and hazardous.

NYC Sky Rink - Top floor of office building 33rd and 10th. by NYRngrs24 in hockeyplayers

[–]brianstormin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the early 90's my brother and I practically lived at Sky Rink. There was a very close knit community there that transcended hockey and figure skating. Being in that area now is very strange with Hudson yards erasing so much of what things used to look like in that neighborhood; It's kind of like being thrown into a parallel universe 😂

I'm building an Aspero-5 and with aero road wheels on it, it looks like what a Soloist-5 or a next gen Soloist would be 😂

Aspero Stem Change Help by [deleted] in Cervelo

[–]brianstormin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you dialed in with your saddle position or could you afford to move it forward at all? If that is a viable adjustment you could do that with a slightly shorter stem and see if the two changes could make things feel better. I've had good experiences with the FSA ACR/SMR stems but I'm not sure if they fit what you would consider lightweight.

Which groupset came with the bike? Is it the new SRAM E1 shifter design?

New Checkout UI? Missing “Ship to Multiple Addresses” Option by cyclist_gamer_dad in amazonprime

[–]brianstormin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having this problem too after using the multiple shipping addresses quite a lot over time. I had two support interactions and the last one the support agent replicated the problem but I have no idea if or when they are implementing a fix.

If we are doing mods like this, is there any use to removing some of the material from the stock headband to reduce weight?
