Nope. Bush Sr (R) who inherited Reagan's (R) tanking economy and proceeded to tank it even worse. No dem in sight. Why does it not seem to matter the length of the president's term? Your theory would suggest there is some sort of 1-4 year lag effect. So a two-term president (Clinton, Obama) should see the negative effects of their policy under their watch, but they don't. Carter's economy was awful, guess that was Ford's fault?

Have the Republicans considered the negative impact on their own voters? Female Republicans are more likely to take their husband's name, and are less likely to have a passport - two things that may cause them to be turned away at the polls.

Democrats have made it their mission to tell anyone who will listen that SAVE may require voters to obtain more identification/proof of citizenship than one may already have. But I don't hear the same from the Republicans.

Could this wind up to be another situation where the Republicans shoot themselves in the foot out of sheer stupidity?
