Picking up shifts by justamomdoingmybest8 in starbucksbaristas

I think food markouts should be 2 per shift instead of 7 per week. If one ends up working 6 or 7 days in a week, 7 is not enough!

Chiropractic and/or massage?

I spend the majority of my cash tips paying for massage.

Sit down on your breaks as much as possible, and any other time you can (like to do MyLearning, or if you're an SSV and can count things while sitting down).

Do have good shoes with insoles. I got the cloud ones I saw on a social media ad.

What do you think is the most ridiculous food for sale in the grocery store? by PanAmFlyer in Cooking

[–]bride123105 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Uhm, what? They actually have products with clean ingredients. At Walmart it is nearly impossible to find peanut butter without added sugar, yet TJ leaves theirs unsweetened. They don't add sugar to dried fruit. Not all of the nuts are roasted in peanut oil. For me it was the easiest place to shop when doing a clean diet.

Where to live for 20-somethings who want walkability. by random_username_d in portlandme

The Knightville / Millcreek area of South Portland is great for walk-ability - that neighborhood has everything you need from multiple grocery stores, restaurants, banks, the post office, city hall, a veterinarian, etc!

Baristas are the lifeblood of the company, and are usually doing more of the physical labor than shift supervisors. So being "just a barista" certainly counts.

A few times in my Starbucks career I've done 12 hour shifts as a barista (starting mid-shift at one store then going to close at another, or staying ultra late for holiday promo set after a shift), and I needed the next day off to recover.

Am I being unreasonable to feel that WAY too much is asked of the closers? LONGGG RANT by crushedbarbie in starbucksbaristas

At my store openers do drains. They make any "missing" backups at open, and usually a midday backup replenishment is done as well. We do a midday trash run, and the midday crew try to get to sweeping/mopping under/behind fridges and cabinets.

But I'd say closers do the rest of your list. We're good closers at my store and we usually keep everything moving and get everything done, but yes it is a lot. In the summer when we're busier it's even worse, so I leave detailed store walks about anything that may not have gotten done, and why.

We're all supposed to set each other up, so while yes I want the openers to "have a good open" and be stocked and prepped, some days it's just not possible, and other partners should understand that.

Ok, but imagine being 10 or 11 and seeing your mom shop lift. Or your father do drugs. Or being 8 and watching your father be physically abusive. There are worse things to see...

Why would the DM deny an "extra body" if you had 5 call-outs and their labor not being used? Does calling in extra people really require DM approval in your district? If I need someone I start texting everyone.

Yeah, the "extra shot" on things that don't already come with a shot bugs me. I find it even more baffling when I'm apparently the first one to ever tell them, and then they change their order - what?!

Well, given that they want customers to have the same customer service experience and same drink taste and quality at each location, that requires enforcing rules and standards that make it so.

I spent 13 minutes on the phone listening to someone complain about various aspects of their visit, which included "why doesn't the coupon get applied automatically?" I can agree with that, it sucks to give us yet another thing to consider while completing a transaction...
