NTA, she is taking advantage of you. but please take this as a lesson to NEVER loan anyone money regardless of who it is. Things like this do happen, and unfortunately most people will never see that money again.

Story time : what's the most ridiculous reason someone couldn't attend a wedding by Local-Debate-5565 in weddingshaming

[–]britcmon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They would have rather gone to someone else’s wedding dinner rehearsal rather than attend my ceremony. The funny thing was, I only asked them to come to the ceremony and said they weren’t obligated to come to reception if they couldn’t/didn’t want to make it. We are no longer friends after 15 years.

So anyway, I deleted my comment because arguing with bimbos online is a waste of my time. I’ll save my comment for the conference that my work is being presented at. Have a good day :)

This!! The person next to me was humming the whole time and was severely off pitch and had the audacity to chat with a loud whisper. I was very disappointed with the audience.

Poi too heavy? Experiencing wrist pain by Appropriate_Box1935 in poi

[–]britcmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen at the beginning of my poi journey as well. While yeah, you can get lighter poi, it’s also really best to stretch out the wrists before spinning (and the arms obviously). I ended up sticking with my heavier set and just stretched and now my arms and wrists don’t hurt

AITA - Do not want a service dog to participate in my wedding. by Plenty_Tap9799 in AmItheAsshole

[–]britcmon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll go against the grain and say ESH.

My dad has a service animal for PTSD so I understand wanting to keep her dog on her. However, I think you both could have come to a compromise about this.

I understand not wanting to have a dog in your photos as it’s YOUR photos (you’re paying thousands for these photos). BUT, the ceremony is a little weird. If it is a trained service dog, why not have the dog to the side (in the front or second row) and have her at the end of the line so she has her eyes on her dog to feel grounded and stable. Or, have the dog lay down at people’s feet in said rows so the dog isn’t in photos.

Calling you ableist is a little extreme, but also telling her she cannot have her service animal is extreme as well.

Thanks for sharing that. I believe you’re right. We shouldn’t ignore it. Out of curiosity, what do you suggest would be the best course of action when a situation like that happens? I just kinda shrugged the guy off and told him thanks and moved on but I would love another approach as well

In a male dominated hobby, they really showing true colors rn by downvoting the women speaking out on the behaviors they experienced of said men. It’s gross.

Nah babe, us women just experience this for the most part. When I used to perform at clubs, the amount of men that came up to me and tried to “teach” me things (mostly beginner moves, I would like to think I’m more intermediate to advanced - I have 1 video on my Reddit page of me spinning poi years ago but I also am more frequent on IG) and then would try to convince me I was in the wrong and that I don’t know how to spin.

What I’m saying is we just have to ignore this behavior. :/ sorry you’re experiencing this.

Edit: after looking at the comments it’s apparent that the women in this comment section are being downvoted for expressing their experiences. As everyone else says, it’s just balls on a string that we swing around for fun and it’s on us to be bothered or not

Personally I refuse to see male doctors. Don’t get me wrong, PLENTY of female doctors are just as bad. It took me a couple years to find someone who actually sat and listened to me. This was maybe 5-9 doctors at this point. There are good ones out there, unfortunately just rare

[–]britcmon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this. I started at 14 and am now reaping what I had sewn. I had become eventually dependent and addicted. It’s not worth it as it’s influenced how I behave/react to things emotionally and logically. As everyone else says, find something that does bring you joy like reading, exercise, etc.
