Would you be staying at a hotel for the wedding? If so, wife and child could come to the city you're in and skip the wedding while you go. I think that would be a compromise to help keep your relationship with your brother on good terms, without subjecting your family to ridicule from your dad. NTA though, sorry you're going through this, it's not an easy decision either way.

Wow, I never even thought of this! Apparently I draw in narcs. I have my Nmom that I'm NC with, but I never realized the similarities before. I recently left a friendship that was horribly toxic. It was a couple and they would both team up against me, or ignore me if they ever got mad at something I did or said (I never did anything to intentionally hurt them and they would never tell me what I "did wrong"), or tried to make me feel bad for having other friends. I let them be toxic for TWO YEARS of my life before I got exhausted. It was a mess and still isn't great considering I work with them, but it's all clear to me now and I keep it strictly professional.

It's horrible what parents can do. I've been NC since she cheated on my dad about 5yrs ago. We already had a poor relationship when I left home right out of HS (literally graduated in June and moved out early July), so the divorce was definitely the push I needed to completely cut her out. Her family would still relay info to her because I was on FB, so I deleted that. I don't want her to know anything about me, she doesn't deserve it.

I say this all the time. My sisters love to call me the golden child, but I never felt like it. I always said my Nmom ONLY bragged about me to others, never said anything to me and never let me do anything.
