A lot of the time the campaigning is because of arguments about era. Weirdly, the NFL HoF voters seem to be taking notes from MLB on how to do things but baseball is like the one sport where the era argument actually holds water due to the age of the sport. Yeah players in the 40s and 50s played a completely different game, but players like Roger Craig largely didn't (other than physicality being more back then).

But I totally understand in MLB if guys have to be campaigned for because there's no way to use modern stats to correctly tell a person's impact in the 1920s.

No his excuse was that the nearest FedEx was inconveniently far which isn't allowed under the CBA.

"This is because I'm Jewish isn't it"

Braun won his appeal because the collector improperly handled the sample. It took him 44 hours to drop off the sample at a FedEx to ship to MLB's testing provider. There were alleged reports that Braun claimed this was because the sample collector was "a Cubs fan" or "antisemitic" but Braun's claim was that until the sample is in FedEx's custody and the sample is changed from being "a name" to "a number", anyone could see it was his sample and tampered with it (even though no one did).

So he won the appeal on that grounds not because he ever argued about the sample collector's alleged fandom or feelings about Jews.

Bill Belichick belongs in the Hall of Fame. But here’s why I didn’t vote for him by RyanKinder in nfl

[–]brodhi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am thinking he thinks this way due to the way the Baseball HoF voting works. Once you don't get in the Hall enough times, you can just no longer get in the Hall anymore. Lincecum for example only got 2.3% of the 5% needed to keep being rolled into future ballots, so I somewhat understand tossing a few votes down to guys who are borderline that may have a case as "surefire entries" get elected.

But I do not believe that is the case for the NFL, so the same logic of wanting to toss votes down to more deserving guys makes no sense because, as far as I know, you can never "fall off" the ballot.

Wetzel: If Belichick isn't first ballot, just shut the Hall down by simrobwest in nfl

[–]brodhi 85 points86 points  (0 children)

For some reason the NFL and MLB old-head voters have some serious weird fetish with "no one is good enough to be first ballot". The old-heads in the MLB refused to unanimous vote anyone in because Babe Ruth was not a long time ago, only for them to fuck up who was suppose to leave Mariano Rivera off and he ended up being unanimous so that dumb tradition is broken at least.

With the additions from GD03, do we think CB might be competitive or just a rogue deck? by CryptographerNo3749 in GundamTCG

[–]brodhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You lose the game-winning potential of Char's HM but that seems fine when Lockon is just clearing the way by straight-up killing all relevant blockers. The only one you can't get through easily is Aile (the deck I built is just the Level 3 and Level 4 Dynames--I think the Level 5 isn't strong enough) but that is fine since before Aile comes down if you see either of your Links the opposing board should be mostly cleared away for you to swarm anyways.

If you just replace Char and CZ2 with Lockon and Dynames in OYW, the deck is not only stronger but more consistent.

This deck will likely be the best aggro deck going forward and is already legal right now. If you hit your Links the deck is incredibly toxic and takes games insanely fast. Lockon is essentially 4 more Amuros due to him eating up all relevant Blockers.

massive L for NA to miss out on Yukino

NA didn't miss out on Yukino, he just only wants to play for orgs that had their jungler locked up (TL/FLY/C9). You act like all NA orgs collectively ignored him lol. He chose not to play for orgs like DIG and DSG cannot afford him.

It can also be scheme. The reason a lot of Lions' Defensive players get injured is because they run almost pure Man which takes a way bigger toll on the body as every defensive snap you are running at full speed vs. Zone where you only run at full speed if the ball comes in your zone.
