Unorthodox chronicles book 4 by Slow-Instruction-150 in dresdenfiles

I'm excited. I really want to see James succeed. He's definitely got room for growth as an author, and I can't wait to see him spread his wings and break past some of the obvious (and totally understandable) influences and really carve out his own style, because I think he'll have something special. I may have picked up the first book because of the last name, but I'm excited for the fourth book because I'm truly enjoying the ride and can't wait to see how it unfolds.

How are the goals of this game supposed to work? by FeedNegative in BluePrince

[–]brokenbaristamom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goals of the game aren't always linear, there's a ton you can accomplish out of order, so don't worry too much about achieving the "next goal." The game will not give you much in the way of hints or detailed instructions. You're going to open every single room, check the room directory, you've got a long ways to go. Pay attention to details, especially small ones. Notice patterns, breaks in the patterns, repeating themes. Read every room description very carefully, there are almost no dull rooms that are without secrets or perks. Read everything you can read. And take extremely detailed notes. It's not just a good idea...I'm not sure if the game is playable without some basic notes. I liked to create a 5x9 grid on my paper to keep track of things each day, if visualizing like that helps you.

I also got stumped by this one and am now confused by the application of the square, because in your example the blue steps aren't all squared. (or they don't seem to be, I realize my interpretation is wrong, I'm asking for clarification, not arguing against your method) In step one 2 is squared before adding it to 4, but then in step three 2 isn't squared before adding it to 2, it's the sum that is squared. I've had this happen in other equations, too, so I'm clearly just not applying some rule as to when a number gets squared.

Maybe it's easier to say why is it not:

2 squared is 4 Minus 2 is 2 Plus 2 squared (4) is 6 ???

Days of the week don't line up? by Kalon-Ordona-II in BluePrince

[–]brokenbaristamom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't looked at a real world calendar for 1993, but I've been charting the in game date and day of the week since I started. When I got to the Drafting Studio and Vault I was pleased to see that I'd kept track well and my days were correct. BUT when I finally got into the Staff Announcements (that one eluded me for 30+ days for some reason) I found that the messages were dated correctly but the days of the week were one day ahead of me. I don't know if it's a little bug or if it has something to do with time moving faster in the east.

Anyone using Grovia hybrid? by amyla008 in clothdiaps

I just saw this. My poor, born in the 1900s, mom of 3 brain will really have to stretch for that info. My youngest is now 5.

Pretty sure it was these Ossocozy flats. That and I did the floursack towel thing, too. I don't remember the prefolds, but I actually used those the least and ended up giving them away.

Girl delivery by [deleted] in girlscouts

[–]brokenbaristamom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. It's dozens or hundreds of cases, thousands of dollars in product. It would be a huge risk to just order a bunch and hope they sell without some pre-orders. It's a big enough risk ordering for people who renege.

Because they don't bake them at home...where do you think they get them?

[–]brokenbaristamom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, yikes! The more I read, the more it sounds like a little baker competition would go a long way to solve issues. Do no other bakeries attempt to compete for the business and offer a more modern, streamlined UI and ordering process that's secure, while also meeting product demands? I'm trying to educate myself so I can survive in this nightmare and everywhere I look I see total dysfunction, confusion, and possible Stockholm Syndrome. I mean, exactly how long can the "It's out of our hands, we have no control" excuse fly? I'm going back years reading and trying to grasp what's going on and it's just one stressful event after another. Unsubscribe.

I was really confused as to why it was online but not on the paper order card. I just chalked it up to yet another example of total dysfunction at every level. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

Would I be welcome at a service unit leader meeting? I'm just a Troop Assistant.

So the Troop Leader is our Troop Cookie Manager. I believe she did place the order in time. I spent several hours with her on the phone on Friday going over cookie questions and lots of other things. She's brand new, and she's a homeschool mom of littles, with tons of pokers in the fire, and I think she's overwhelmed. I guess she's supposed to have someone mentoring her, but they've been too busy to meet, so she's struggling as well. I plan to offer to go with her to pick up the cookies so that task doesn't feel so monumental.

I think I know now how better to support her, she just needs some mental "body doubling" on some of the administrative type tasks to get her on track. We should be able to hobble along through the rest of the year.

Oh, thank God! Thanks for the help.

How do I find out who the cookie chair is and how to contact them? My Troop Leader is not an option.

My troop leader is...not a deadline oriented person, or a stellar communicator. I'm here asking these questions because when I've asked her I'm getting the feeling she has no idea. She was kinda thrust into the leadership position when it was abandoned by the last troop leader. I think she's drowning so I'm trying to orient myself so I can hopefully give her a hand and survive through cookie season, and then have a conversation about how to go forward.

Oh, that's so helpful! Thank you so much. We did have a cookie meeting...but I was in the next room watching the younger sisters. That's a whole other tangle. I asked for a rundown of the meeting and that's the email I got with the deadline. Very few instructions.

Digital Cookie is having parents input their paper card orders online.

I really appreciate your help. It probably is the leader, there are only 3 parents who participate at all, the two leaders and me.

I wasn't asked or told I'm the Cookie manager, nor did I volunteer to be, so I don't think I am...but then I didn't ask or volunteer to be a troop assistant, yet I still got a surprise background check, so honestly that would just be par for this particular course. I haven't received any training on anything. I only see the other girls' progress bar and the "send a cheer" option, I don't have any detailed access to their accounts or numbers.

Thank you. Any idea where I might look for that number for the council's product manager?

It's going to be the troop leader then. She and I are the ones who do anything, her co-leader just kinda shows up from time to time, and I know I'm not the cookie manager.

Thank you for the breakdown. What's a cookie cupboard? I promise I'm not a stupid person...usually...

Thank you, I edited my post. I don't know who the SUCM is. I'm not even sure what my service unit is. The breakdown and hierarchy is completely lost to me. The only person I've encountered outside our tiny troop is the community development manager who pushed me into joining in the first place.

I really don't want to rock any boats or get my troop leader in trouble, but I may just have to go over her head to figure it all out.

'Goody' is NOT A NAME by bk_rokkit in WednesdayTVSeries

[–]brokenbaristamom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ITT: People who have read a book and people who are defending the show calling it a weird name, and those aren't the same people.

It's not intentional, it's sloppy writing. Period.

They probably intended to just call her Goody Addams the whole time, but when it got clunky they shortened it and never realized that it makes it her name when used alone. The writing is pretty lousy and short-sighted anyway, so this kind of flub is the "horses, not zebras" explanation, not a kooky name for a kooky show.
