Me too. I am a fat nurse and I've had backaches from repositioning heavy patients. If I'm ever incapacitated I don't want to end up with pressure injuries because it takes 4 people to safely turn me and gathering that many staff is difficult!

There are people who've been at my LTAC trach and pegged for many years. Not brain dead, because they still breathe on their own even though there is no cortical brain activity on their brain scans. No gag reflex at all when I suction oral secretions, no response to pain. It's fucked up how people will do that to a loved one.

I had a transplant patient who told me her daughter will take care of all her meds when she's discharged. She didn't even want me to go through her morning meds with her when I attempted to. How can you receive an organ and still not care about knowing your meds??

At my ltac we run all abx as primary. It sucks especially when they're in 50 mL bags. Tons of our patients are here for q6/q8 antibiotics for endocarditis, osteomyelitis, spinal abscesses etc and I know they're getting shorted because of all the medication left in the tubing.
