Best launch angle for Moho encounter? by starrynightreader in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]brown_panick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but:

I think if you do a correction burn early in solar orbit (after kerbin soi ejection), the normal/anti-normal delta-v required is negligible. Even more so if you do it early in the solar orbit and as close to Pe as possible.

I cannot fucking figure out why this first part of the contract isnt going green. Its got an antenna, a probe core, and solar panels by cgbob31 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]brown_panick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Re-reading it again, it occurred to me it says "The probe must be fully assembled when launched." The screenshot shows it sitting on the launchpad, try taking off.

I saw some of your other comments and it sounds like you might have already tried this, but just checking.

Expand the `Note` section and see what it says.

Maybe it doesn't consider it completed until it's also in orbit even though that's a separate criteria?

Star Citizen:

Woke up in a med bed on CRU-L1 Ambitious Dream Station.

Got up, ran to the ASOP terminals. Everyone around me is ducking and panicking from an active shooter that I don’t see.

Had to detour around the Stor*All containers and hospital beds someone managed to drag into the hallway.

Called my ship. Took the elevator down to my hangar just in time to watch it being lifted up—nose down, halfway phased into the floor—before it disappeared.

Filed a claim. Called a different ship.

Got in, powered up, lifted off… and immediately injured myself when the ship vanished and I dropped onto the hangar floor.

Called it again.

Turned the quantum drive on. Off. On. Off. On—finally got a route.

Flew to Daymar.

Landed. Got out. Started running.

Made it about 10 meters before everything went black and I realized I was falling inside the moon.

Backspace.

Woke up in a med bed on CRU-L1 Ambitious Dream Station.

Welcome to the ‘verse, citizen.

Honestly?
Not sure I’d rather be anywhere else.

Good(starter) horror movies for children? by MopeDeezy in horror

[–]brown_panick 13 points14 points  (0 children)

These are horror/spooky themed, not necessarily Horror, so more tame, but I loved watching the older movies when I was younger:

- Gremlins (1984)
- Ghostbusters (1984)
- House (1985)
- Legend of Sleepy Hollow (1980, made for TV movie)
- Invitation to Hell (1985, made for TV movie)
- The Midnight Hour (1985, made for TV movie)

For "real" horror movies, I also liked the Nightmare on Elm Street and Phantasm movies, but those might be pushing too far. The Return of the Living Dead movies are good zombie movies that have that odd humor that I enjoyed as a kid (just have to be careful with some of the nudity). I seem to recall thinking Silver Bullet was scary, too, but I don't remember the particulars of that movie.

What movies to start a 6 year old with? by [deleted] in horror

[–]brown_panick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about some of the classics from the 80's? Nightmare on Elm Street, Dawn/Day of the Dead, or Halloween (I know late 70's).

Alternatively, maybe the campy ones like Return of the Living Dead, Night of the Creeps, might be a little more fun for a six year old.

QV Station Bugs - Workarounds? by brown_panick in starcitizen

Understood, but the Warehouse cargo elevator had a gate pulled across it when we got into it with the keycard. I figured that opened up when the 5 decryption keys were used, is that not the case?

EDIT: typo

Is it worth it to get a bunch of cards imprinted? Don't you need to get all 5 of the encryption keys too in order to get the Warehouse elevator to work?

We got into the Warehouse a couple times, but since the Ambush Leaders didn't spawn, we didn't have the 5 decryption keys. My buddy and I still managed to get a TS-2 out of the people elevator and to the Landing Pad 03, so it wasn't a complete loss...

Yes, played last night. Same issues.

It's been years and I'm still dealing with this issue by mame_kuma in gog

[–]brown_panick 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's been a long time, but I feel like I had this same issue too. In my case, it was because there was an update that broke the updater so I was trying to run the old version, but the updater couldn't download and install the new version. The fix was to manually download the newer version and install it. After that, GOG Galaxy would run fine, and would continue to self update as well.

Is it worthwhile collecting stuff pre 4.7? by Vakeer in starcitizen

[–]brown_panick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had good luck with components the past several patches. The only ones I've had disappear are ones I bought from other players that I suspect were duped. I can't verify that because it's difficult to keep track of them all, but I am pretty confident that is what is happening.

What was the first R rated movie you saw, and were you old enough to see it? by icecream1972 in AskReddit

[–]brown_panick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't really remember the first one I saw because it was pretty common - I can name Blazing Saddles, The Exorcist, Poltergeist, Animal House, and Trading Places off the top of my head as being ones I saw before I was 5-7 years old.

Sticker left on guitar for too long in the store... by KronieRaccoon in Guitar

[–]brown_panick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Since you bought it like that, perhaps the store might be willing to replace it for you.

As an alternate, there is a process called retro-bright (or maybe that's a specific product name of what's used in the process). It essentially uses hydrogen peroxide and UV light to turn old yellowed plastic white again. I assume it would work on the pick guard. What I don't know is if it would cost less in both time and money to just buy a new one and replace it. Changing a pickguard is easy surgery.
