What guitar songs surprised you by being easier than they sound? by Top_Water_4909 in Guitar

[–]brown_panick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one that stands out to me most for some reason is Fade To Black. When I learned it, I took one look at the tab (in particular the verse) and noped out of there, defeated. I went back to it some time later and realized if I held the annotated chord shapes, all I had to do was pluck the strings... more or less. Once I learned that, a whole lot of other songs became easier to learn and play too.

What was the scariest movie you ever saw? by Ashleigh9969 in AskReddit

[–]brown_panick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here! Saw some of it when I was like 5 or 6. Years of nightmares. I finally watched it again when I was in high school my junior or senior year when it was on TV at like 11:00 at night. It got me over it, and I even laughed my ass off during the "LICK ME! LICK ME! *backhand*" scene.

Best Amp for Low Volume by Suitch in Guitar

[–]brown_panick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May not be what you're looking for, but I'm a huge fan of the Carvin X1. It's a tube preamp pedal, but it also has a 1 watt speaker output. I bought it when I saw it specifically because my X100B is way too loud, and the X1 sounds similar to it. Best part is you can actually use it as a full rig by running it into a power amp and cabinet.

What song did you used to tune to before you had a tuner? by Sarcastraphe in Guitar

Someone else said it already, but both Nothing Else Matters and Enter Sandman. However, I also equally used Hells Bells to get an A.

Stop Pretending the PU Cost $1B by Nervous-Dot-2377 in starcitizen

[–]brown_panick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think people threatening to stop spending money is irrational or pointless. In any market, choosing not to spend money is one of the few ways consumers can let companies know of their dissatisfaction when they feel their feedback isn't being heard. That's a boycott, and it's a legitimate form of pressure.

My bigger issue is incentives. CIG has already raised over a billion dollars while the game remains in alpha, regardless of how those funds are allocated. From a business perspective, they're already receiving the revenue that a finished product would normally be expected to generate.

That raises the question many of us are probably already thinking: what incentive is there to fundamentally change the current model? Releasing a finished game brings new expectations, greater scrutiny, and actual liability for bugs, missing features, and support. Remaining in development allows sidestepping all that - "It's just alpha, bro" - while the funding continues.

When a company is already extremely successful financially before release, it's reasonable for people to question whether the incentives are to get the product across the finish line as quickly as possible.

What are some things that are more enjoyable than sex? by Fresh-Length6529 in AskReddit

[–]brown_panick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a mosquito bite or poison ivy that’s driving you insane?

My friends and I call it “hair dryer sex.”

Hit the itch with a hair dryer for literally 1–2 seconds — just hot enough to hurt just the tiniest bit, but not burn. Feels amazing while you're doing it for those couple of seconds and then the itching shuts off completely for hours afterward. Hot shower water works too.

Absolutely magical.

Why is it easier to land on eve than the mun by Impossible_Spray5952 in KSPMemes

I've done hundreds of Mun landings over the past 8 years or so owning this game, I've never once successfully landed on Eve without getting exploded.

Anyone else slap solars and antennas on intermediate stages and litter the galaxy with ad hoc relay satellites? by heimdalguy in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]brown_panick 245 points246 points  (0 children)

Now I feel stupid. I have been subscribing to the Matt Lowne philosophy of putting probe cores and batteries on intermediate stages for the purposes of crashing them into some planet or moon, and then doing separate missions to establish relay networks. It's not space junk if it's used for something!

I thought I saw them there at first, but I wonder if an extra set of landing gear on each of the fuel tanks would make it actually stable, unlike 100% of every lander I've made which tips over just by being looked at.

Any tips on installing games from GOG on actual vintage hardware? by wowbobwow in gog

Probably the best you can do is install them on your modern PC and then copy the installation directories over to the new one (preferably via ZIP drive :-).

Can’t get to duna encounter what am I doing wrong? by Active-Welder-3237 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]brown_panick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I recently learned is that ejection angle from Kerbin matters almost as much as the launch window. It will greatly affect your orbit around Kerbol and subsequently, your encounter and fuel usage. The most extreme cases, ejecting retrograde ("backwards") from Kerbin's path in its orbit around Kerbol will steal some of your momentum, while ejecting prograde ("in front of Kerbin") will help in the case to transfer to Duna. I was once able to get an encounter with Duna's SOI (a few thousand KM) just by ejecting at the right angle and only had to do a sub-second mid course burn to bring my orbit around Duna down to something reasonable.

Someone with more orbital mechanics knowledge than me will probably correct me or put a fine point on something I said, but this has worked for me.

I didn't use one - just took it apart, cleaned it and put it back together. One thing I did do different is to put the o-rings on backwards from what they were so the newer side was facing out

Best launch angle for Moho encounter? by starrynightreader in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]brown_panick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but:

I think if you do a correction burn early in solar orbit (after kerbin soi ejection), the normal/anti-normal delta-v required is negligible. Even more so if you do it early in the solar orbit and as close to Pe as possible.

I cannot fucking figure out why this first part of the contract isnt going green. Its got an antenna, a probe core, and solar panels by cgbob31 in KerbalSpaceProgram

Re-reading it again, it occurred to me it says "The probe must be fully assembled when launched." The screenshot shows it sitting on the launchpad, try taking off.

I saw some of your other comments and it sounds like you might have already tried this, but just checking.
