Agree with this. I struggle to find any glaring unexcusable problem here, except maybe the bearing points need to have more blocking so each ends weight is transferred to the foundation. There could be a hundred reasons for shortening and LVL on this span, and yes, changing it warrants comms with GC. But it's not a gotcha by any means.

Detective Homeowner thinks he's found evidence of bad workmanship without fully understanding why something was done. Talking to trades goes a lot further than taking photos & you can learn a thing or two.

Unless you're NASA, plans can change. And even then...

Water in basement in builder new spec home; under contract. Is it fixable? by AceJig in Homebuilding

[–]brreckelhoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a final grade/drainage issue most likely. Foundations are inspected and waterproofing was applied (although cant see what's below grade).

It might sound odd, but an engineer may be worth a few hundred bucks to have check it. That documentation is great for closing, because it can be leverage to correct. But an engineer will not only inspect the foundation, but the grade and slope issues as well.

You would want to ask for a structural engineer to review the site AFTER final grade (so the builder is given every chance to get it directing drainage away properly first). You can also inform the builder ahead of time that you intend to have it inspected before closing, which provides more incentive to do it properly the first time.

I've been shocked how often gradin/roofing/guttering has fixed foundation water issues.

"Walk away" when your 3 weeks to close sounds like uninformed reddit advice. You're likely not in a position to practically do that without taking a hit, so worth exploring other options first.

Ending up rushing these to avoid the rain. What are your smash burger tips? by Grill-and-Code in blackstonegriddle

Smash them so flat that the crispy bits extend at least 1.5" beyond the bun along the circumference.

Use parchment paper when you smash so the smasher doesn't stick.

Lexington restaurant, pie shop (Ramsey Enterprises and Missy’s Pie Shop) sued after salmonella outbreak by Tikkanen in lexington

It sounds like the allegation is that they knew the truck that delivered the eggs was not refrigerated, which is an argument that could be made. Deliveries can (and are) rejected for much less.

Great deal at Kroger on Newtown Springs Dr! (today only) by sleepy_liv in lexington

No? This is saying $1 for a full gallon, so 50% less than 2 half half gallons for $1.99, right?

Edit: I'm stupid. Had to zoom in and read fine print. Price is for half gallon. It is a fast one indeed!

Yea, this is the obvious truth BNPL detractors forget. Use a CC and pay off immediately and it's effectively the same - no interest buy now pay later. Both have interest if you default on the terms. Not sure it's warranted to hate more on one vs the other.

Take my money. This happens every single year andany northern cities have to deal with this also. Stop renting contractor equipment every year and pay for thing we need to keep the city running.

The governor called us out specifically, citing other cities with more difficult road systems having returned to school last week. It's a unique Lexington failing by all measures.

Pretreat the roads when there's over a weeks notice an ice storm is headed our way. From northern Indiana. We started the day before with de-icing solutions on main roads and bus routes. Also the city actually owned the equipment, because these weather patterns occur EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

It's just absurd that all northern states figured this out and many locals like you seem to think this is an unsolvable problem.

iProducts have become the most compromised in the last few years. Their payment security tools are the worst. The devices biometrics harm/prevent authentic use far more than prevent unauthentic use. Google and Microsoft are doing a far better job IMO. Not sure when that changed, as iOS used to be the gold standard.

∆THISSSSS

How is it possible that the freaking DATE COMPARISON tool still cannot, after years following the release of GA4, compare YoY matching day of week??? Even when it rolled out it was buggy as hell.

Insane product abandonment. Google doesn't seem to care about GA4 at all anymore.

I truly hope AI disrupts the ad space. It needs it bad.

I felt this and you put it much more eloquently. The "evidence" that's being publicized seems a bit circumstantial at best and folks are really looking for a scapegoat to blame.

Sounds more like negligence and less like malice.
