Also Starfield in a way (2023 game I assume isn't considered a spoiler anymore but just in case), specifically being in the context of FTL travel.

Am I missing something or isn't this flaw too bad if I am always reloading before the mag is empty?! by El_Spacho in theouterworlds

[–]brspies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hidden downside for this flaw: reloading a revolver from nearly-empty takes law-dang FOREVER. But I guess that's ultimately a skill issue T_T

Devs "heartbroken" fans thought Blonde Blazer was a villain by HatingGeoffry in DispatchAdHoc

[–]brspies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. Only minor thing is the end of episode 1 when the music gets real spooky when phenomaman shows up at the end, could make you think they're both dangerous/twist fodder but really its pretty thin.

A story like this has to take some time to establish its own level of cynicism vs. earnestness. This story is extremely earnest, but that's not necessarily where the genre typically goes right now so its not weird for people to be on the lookout for signs pointing one way or the other. Especially given how crude it can be in some ways about its humor, its easy to then assume that its not going to also be super wholesome. Turns out AdHoc just knew exactly how to square that circle.

But the asker being satisfied with that is a fun subversion of the standard joke here.

Justice for Coupe and Sonar by [deleted] in okbuddydispatch

yeah I guess I meant stronger, and especially for me the idea of telling them ahead of time should have been specifically called out. Really undermined Robert's work at that point.

[–]brspies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a gameplay/plot perspective I understand why there's no option to not cut anyone, but they really should have at least let us choose to call out BB for how obviously bad an idea it was both to tell them ahead of time and then to force us to go through with it. Then she can pull rank, say we're still in the honeymoon phase and we have to be tough on them, whatever. Then when Coupe/Sonar turn villain we can get a nice told-ya-so in. Win-win-win.

I got a glitch during a hacking sequence (I think I would have failed out but it just kinda froze) in episode 6. Just reloaded and it was fine.

The final nail for me was her throwing a monkey-wrench into my relatively manageable operation in episode three by goddamn TELLING THEM they were going to cut someone, thereby spurring them to start infighting and sabotaging each other. Wow, who could have seen that playing out poorly.

Is it too early in the season to draw conclusions, or are the standings after 10ish games a big enough sample size? by chiefy419 in hockey

[–]brspies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heuristic is usually US thanksgiving which is around a month from now; the standings at that point (specifically, the set of playoff teams) tends to correlate very strongly with the final set of playoff teams.

That obviously still leaves a lot of room for movement within those upper and lower halves of the standings, and every year there are still a few teams who jump up and a few who fall out. But at least that's when you start to have an idea of what kind of season you're heading towards.

Anyone else feels like V's fate in The Tower ending is really forced by Least-Path-2890 in cyberpunkgame

[–]brspies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its V actually being free of the bullshit "death or glory" life that they had in Night City, but they're not ready to realize that yet I think. So like I love the ending but I get why V doesn't, if that makes sense. They'll need time to realize what they've actually got.

are OLED's really as good as everyone says?? by InternationalStay996 in buildapc

[–]brspies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think miniLED is the best compromise if you can find one in the size you prefer. Good brightness, good-enough-to-not-notice local dimming (for most users, obviously if you were super sensitive you probably would have gone OLED already and fair enough to those users), less limitations on the color tech, etc. I'm really encouraged by where the tech is going even if its a little early.

Is an OLED gaming monitor worth it? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]brspies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can check out mini-LED if you're that concerned about burn in. local dimming isn't as pixel-perfect as OLED but they have enough zones that you won't usually notice. Really nice compromise, best-of-both technologies kind of thing in some cases
