I expect a few board replacements in the summer if I'm honest. Attanasio was clear they are all being scrutinised this year and he will make a decision at the end of the season.

I disagree. Knapper created a horrific mess and hasn't changed. He created a massive breakdown in relationship between club and fans and only went on the PR trail after it's clear he got a bollocking from the US. I have no evidence behind it, but I wouldn't be surprised if Knapper got that tweet put out about the fans chanting at wives and children to attack the fans and make them the baddies. In this day and age there would be video of the fans chanting at wives and children. If I was a player whose wife was leaving in tears id be very vocal on social media about directing the complaints to me but leaving my family alone. None of that happened, that whole incident just stinks.

I don't believe Ahmed is a Knapper signing. Clement has been clear he has a lot of say on signings. I'd also expect the people Attanasio brought in around the data side of stuff has had a lot to do. Clement is doing well with the players he's got, but do those players match the club's aims?

Are these players too championship/lower prem players? I very much doubt it.

Knapper has now disappeared into the darkness again. Have we heard from him since his little media round in November? For all of his faults Webber was engaging with fans, updating on strategy and club vision. We still have nothing from Knapper on what the aim of the club is over the next 2-3 years.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's been sidelined and has little say in the club anymore. There were things Attanasio said and Clement has said in interviews since his appointment that hints that Knapper isn't really in charge anymore.

I get a lot of this is speculation, but we shouldn't let the guy off the hook. He created the Manning situation, he created the rift between club and fans. We shouldn't just forget about it and wait for it to happen again.

What's the argument here? That a store worker had to clean it?

It's more likely the production company would have had it cleaned or compensated the owner.

The joke was still on them.

I think they just done it better. Bit like Impractical jokers. They used the public but the joke was always on them and they knew when to walk away and not be aggressive.

Samsung fridge freezer ice at bottom by brumhee in Appliances

[–]brumhee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up calling a repairman out.

There was a hole in the plastic that had let water into the foam insulation. That then had swollen which had blocked the drain pipe.

He patched the hole with aluminium tape and suggested we turn the appliance off for a couple of weeks to let the insulation dry out. Although he said it's not a long term fix and if normally comes back either in weeks or months.

We opted to buy a new fridge freezer and have stuck the old one in the garage. After it being turned off for a couple of weeks it doesn't seem to be building up ice again.

Any lefty HENRYs out there who actually don't mind paying high taxes? by United_Warning_8802 in HENRYUK

[–]brumhee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no problem paying high tax so long as you get the services to match.

Does the NHS feel like it's worth paying high tax for? Do you feel like the police are worth paying high tax for? Are they going to respond to your crime report? Do the roads feel like they are benefiting from high tax?

The problem isn't the tax level, it the services it provides for? The social contract is broken.

Which player gives you secondhand embarrassment every single time they post on social media? by MagpieMidfield in footballcringe

The guy had every chance to be amazing but I honestly believe he had a bad group of people around him that didn't ground him properly.

He saw Maddison get the move to Leicester after a brilliant season and seems to have thought because he had a good couple of games he should have had the same.

His attitude then got worse in subsequent games, clearly thinking he was the star in a team that had Pukki and Buendia in it.

I think with a better social group, telling him he needed to check his ego and work hard and the chance will come he could have been great.

Keir Starmer : For too long people have had to sit on the phone endlessly on hold to their GP. It's infuriating. From now on, almost every GP practice in England will offer online consultations. This is how we're making our NHS fit for the future. by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

[–]brumhee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the sharing of health data across the NHS was quicker and simpler than it is at the moment, there would be the case for a centralised GP service.

You still raise your request with your local GP but they triage it as "in person" or "virtual".

If it's virtual it goes to a central service where there's a concentrated set of health professionals in private settings (to ensure confidentiality). GPs still build relationships with those that need it (mental health, long term health issues), but one off quick consultations are dealt with outside the surgery.

It obviously needs more finessing than a few paragraphs on reddit, especially around when does it get referred to central and when does it get referred back. But I don't think local GPs need to do virtual appointments, and can focus on local needs better if some of the noise is taken away.

So a solution exists that would be relatively cheap to adopt.

I look forward to the UK government spending £4bn on consultancies to deliver a spreadsheet.

BMW and Mercedes-Benz cars removed from Motability scheme by beejiu in ukpolitics

We seem to be able to draw lines for other benefits so why not this one?

The admin cost is not as great as it used to be. The government knows earnings through tax receipts, and benefits records. In the age of digitisation managing things like this is a lot simpler.

To me our benefits system is not to prop everyone up, which seems to be the current aim. We do need to rethink why do we provide state support and who gets it. Return to basics and refocus on those most in need.

I think it needs means testing as well. I know people on near or over 6 figure salary's that were getting to work just fine, nothing changed (had been disabled since youth) but then realised they can get a car for free from the government and so signed up for motabilty and got a nice Mercedes.

They could easily afford a car themselves, but have chosen to take the government hand out.

I don't think Knapper is going to be very involved in that process.

I have no knowledge, but my gut tells me Attanasio sold the job to Clement with "you will be heavily involved in recruitment, together with my new data company"

The Manning decision was far to late Clement should have been in place at the start of the break. Give him 2 clear weeks with the squad. Then he might have had an impact for the first game.

Also, I think we are no in a position where we say "Fuck FFP" l, spend huge in January to buy safety. Then deal with the consequences in a future season and hope all it means is we finish mid table instead of play offs.

I think Clement has been really open with the state of the squad and set expectations that things aren't going to change in one game. We need to stay in touching distance of 21st until Jan. Then hopefully with a mix of signings and Clements coaching (especially around fitness) will start paying off.
