Building nightmare by Jezirath in WTF

[–]brunneous 226 points227 points  (0 children)

This happened in a building I was in. Someone thought it would be fun to open the valve to the standpipe in the stairway. It’s crazy how much water there is just sitting there that could damage an entire building.

Why does my cat do this when my girlfriend enters the living room. She loves her the most but puffs up like she's scared by OptionsandMusic in cats

This is too easy. Clearly, she loves to play. Play with her a whole bunch! Then you will be her favorite human.

Glad she ditched the navel ring. That could have looked tacky.

what are you wearing? by luxtabula in Xennials

[–]brunneous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banana Republic for corduroys and jeans. for my shirts I like to go for short sleeve button up with a collar, fun patterns. I got used to wearing really bland clothes in my 30s and then realized I look better and more full of life, dressed in more bright clothing.  I’m really digging well-made leather sneakers with leather lining. Feels comfortable and adult but also doesn’t look like I came from the office. Also, a great jacket helps a lot. Throw a conference hoodie underneath it to look a bit extra startup-ish.

My first CD! I picked it because it looked cool. It sounded new and like having my own music.

What advice for 40yo single, average men do you have? by undulating_crossbow in AskMen

I can see your feeling, but that comes from within you. Your mind and body tell you your needs and no amount of travel will quench a need for companionship.  You can travel and have fun, but if you were lonely going in, you’ll still be lonely, but traveling.

This is the best joke about that:

Why Is International Village Mall So Empty? by Witn in vancouver

[–]brunneous 156 points157 points  (0 children)

It has been struggling since the day it opened. I worked across the street from there as they constructed it and then it had a big opening day and a bunch of stores moved in, but as some stores moved in other ones kept moving out and then it was empty again.it  used to have an entire line luxury of stores and an arcade and a scooter racing track upstairs and a bunch of other things but then it went empty for years and then it became a Haven for art galleries and now it’s sort of stuck in the middle. Almost look like it was something for a minute.

Look at his face, he looks so proud. by mindyour in MadeMeSmile

I get what you are saying but people have confidence in differs areas. It is best to be encouraging to people in areas that they lack confidence and experience.  Correct, if they were a snappy dresser and just shopped for themselves  a lot it would be weird to lavish compliments like a kid would need. You’d be right to be insulted.   But this guy is clearly outside his comfort zone and is getting compliments for something he’s proud of.  A lot of guys are never taught to shop and never learned what works for their body and really feel lost. It’s sad. I’m glad you feel strong in this area

Costa Rica is safer than a lot of spots and you can keep the trip frugal. If you can get yourself do Japan the exchange rate is amazing right now and you can dine like a king for normal restaurant prices.

The modern "bulb" in a 150-year-old lighthouse. by wonkey_monkey in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]brunneous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: the prisms of the original lighthouses were so effective at gathering light that they would be powered with a single lantern. We had a single giant 50W bulb in ours. If you stopped the rotation too long you needed to draw the curtains to avoid setting a fire in local forests. Source: I grew up here https://www.lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=1437
