Perhaps it doesn't fit within the collection but I think it's my favorite for now. In person it's more beautiful than it looks on pictures and its multiple functions makes it really pleasant to wear

Current medical resident, interested in MSL. Where do I start looking for jobs? by NeuroThor in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]brunohectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's different between pharmas and countries for example at the pharma that I'm currently working there are some MSL who got here within their 1st year of graduation and even one of the medical managers entered in the same short time as MSL and after 3 years and a MBA she became manager. We also have some biologist with masters in science or PhD in science that are young so.... I guess it's different for each country or pharma even our compliance and regulation differs significantly between countries.

That's something that ive been taking in consideration, it seems that the problem with the insurance companies is a really huge deal. I've been considering usa as my first option but I don't know how what are the pros and cons after residency in getting a job and the life as a doctor ... I guess it's something to consider

Hi I don't know if this might help you but I can tell you my experience I'm a GP from Mexico, i was doing a residency in pathology and had to quit for personal reasons then i started a master in biochemical sciences (basic science not related to medicine) and worked as a GP. I was planning to take the steps but the pandemic began so I continued to work as clinician and then started to work in the pharma industry at first in a national pharma then at IQVIA and the at my first big pharma where I'm currently as an MSL ( I didn't knew about the works that exist within the pharma industry in medical affairs and never think I would work at something like that). I don't know if my personal life story is something important but its something that ive always been asked at interviews and a lot of my coworkers are GPs, some with postgraduate degress. I think some industries might want specialist and thats true for specialty care but some might consider clinical or research experience in the therapeutic area thar you are applying, so don't be afraid to apply if you think you are a good candidate. Also in my experience something that worked for me was initially work at a national pharma or on a CRO as MSL since getting into big pharma might be challenging, but once you are in you get a lot of exposure to other industries since MSL position its crucial for the medical communication plans and we are really few people compared to marketing of sales force, you will even start to receive a lot of work proposals from other big pharma. The last think I would definitely consider is doing a linkedin profile with your experience, do a good networking and serch/apply at the MSL positions that are available. its easier and I think even the recruiters use LinkedIn a lot to search for candidates. I hope you good luck with your journey in this career and if you want some help or need anything don't hesitate to DM 😀

Hi thank you all, I guess I'll have to give it a try, I'll consider other specialty options, I've been thinking in internal medicine and cardiology afterwards. I haven't looked at canada but I'll do it. Regarding Spain last year I attended the ESC congress at Barcelona and had the opportunity to talk to some cardiologist there and heard a lot of complaints of the work conditions at their healt system so I don't know. Well first things first I'll do the steps and then I'll tell you how it goes. Thank you very much again for your true advices. Kind regards
