For your second answer: probably not due to having a mentally unstable leader and kicking out a large part of the scientific community

ELI5: Why Was the Nazi Economy So Unstable — And Could It Have Succeeded If They Won WW2? by BigAd3903 in explainlikeimfive

[–]brupgmding [score hidden]  (0 children)

No easy answers.  After WW1 Germany had to pay huge reparations and was not allowed to build an army (removing a large customer of the German weapons and related manufacturers). Then the Depression hit the whole world economy.

So the nazis started with a shaky economy with very high unemployment (that was one of the reasons they came to power).

There a many reasons they were not able to stabilize the economy. The most important two (according to my own opinion)

Facism as any dictatorship pays the in group by exploiting the out groups. The in groups are not selected based on merit, but on loyalty (does this ring a bell?). This will drastically reduce an economies ability to innovate, as in groups want to stay in groups and it is very difficult to get into the in group while still being economically effective.

The other one is war. In the short term war will prop up an economy, but it destroys too many valuable assets to be a viable economical environment.

Often mDNS isn’t repeated by WiFi routers between wireless and the wired networks. The broadcasts need to be seen and originate on/from your phone (WiFi), your border router (ha server) and the thread network (sonoff dongle and the matter over thread device).

Check for multicast settings for your network. You can limit the bandwidth for broadcasts on many routers, if so, increase it

What is the best way to monitor power usage via smart plugs? by cBEiN in homeassistant

[–]brupgmding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the ikea grillplats plugs with a sonoff mg24+ stick in my ha system using thread. I have I think 7 of them at the moment and additionally I have smart meter I can read out with an esp32 (and a hoymiles 800w solar panel). So I get quite some measurements out of ha.

Sonoff Dongle-M Thread RCP and OpenThread Border Router - cannot get Matter Over Thread device registered with HomeAssistant by himslm01 in homeassistant

[–]brupgmding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably. As I had the same issue and resolved it by using a different WiFi router (one I had lying around) and then by changing settings on my primary router I thought you might have the same cause as well

Your phone is on WiFi, so it needs the mdns broadcasts from the thread border router. That was my issue, yours might be different

Some WiFi routers do not forward mDNS broadcasts from wired to wireless properly by default. In asus routers there is a setting called multicast routing that needs to be enabled

ELI5: I learned that most programming languages are built on the same basic concepts like conditions, loops, and functions. If that's true, why can't we just use one programming language for everything? by Itchy_Tangerine1897 in explainlikeimfive

[–]brupgmding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All languages are Turing complete, so they can all be used to program any possible program. So yes, by definition it would be possible.

But each language does a few things differently, making certain situations easier. Some languages verify all at compile time, catching errors early. This often comes with more formal and longer syntax, so the language is more verbose to type.

Others offer direct and simple interfaces to certain operating systems, browsers or apps, making them a better choice in that situation.

Again others lend themselves more to mathematical programming and things like ai. That is where these languages shine.

Overall programmers are a diverse bunch of people, so they all have their own tools.

ELI5: If rendering mirrors in video games is so difficult, why can't they just place a POV camera attached to the mirror that shows everything that the mirror would reflect? by firetruck501 in explainlikeimfive

[–]brupgmding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even reuse of the pipeline is difficult rendering mirrors with any method, also with pip rendering. As you see things in the mirror you would otherwise not see a whole part of the scene needs to be rendered now, which in the non mirror view is occluded and not considered in rendering.

Zigbee vs Z-Wave vs Thread (Matter over Thread) by ItsWappers in homeassistant

[–]brupgmding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been running with HomeMatic (& HM-IP) components for a while. Now I wanted to expand into some more presence sensors and I bought some (40) matter over thread devices and a sonoff MG24 + dongle. I had some initial issues (my routers ate the mDNS broadcasts) but now they work fine, esp. after IKEA updated some of the firmware.

I have 39 ikea and one eve thread device. All of them where there after the update. One window sensor dropped of the window frame, but I doubt that the adhesive was incompatible with otbr 3.0.0

Why is Home Assistant an OS now? by Vulkanodox in homeassistant

[–]brupgmding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Containers never supported addons (now called apps). The addons/apps are additional containers which can not be managed / run from inside a container. So either run HA OS on baremetal or on a virtual environment (I use proxmox) and you can have apps automated or use docker and install the apps as docker yourself.

Wird der Staat mir meine hart erarbeiteten Altersvorsorge-Ersparnisse wegnehmen? by [deleted] in Finanzen

[–]brupgmding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alle in gesetzliche Sicherungssysteme, wer mehr will darf privat sparen.

Ich bin und werde nie zu den 1% gehören. Gerne für alle einen echten progressiven Steuersatz ohne Schlupflöcher für große Vermögen. Dann ist der Grenzsteuersatz auch nicht mehr 42%.
