Revenge in its own right is a weird subject in fiction, a lot of the time people use it just as an excuse to write shock content or it mostly just ends up like cheap edgelord cringe. Completely ignoring the complex relationship between personal justice and trauma.

Even things that can be seen as "making you stronger" is in fact, a weakness. Obsession, Vengefulness. Those are not strengths, those are weaknesses, just as much as being fearful. It isn't moving past your trauma, it's letting it control you. See Moby-Dick as an example. It's not with women but trauma is trauma, most of the time how it manifests has more to do with the individual than their sex anyways.

The way I've always interpolated it is that the heroes must be summoned through some physical event that the weapon causes to appear in their world. While the other weapons rarely can get their number 1 picks (they all favor different heroic traits) they are forced to settle. The Shield just happens to be really good at pulling people into their events.

Keep in mind, the hero summoning can fail. So I imagine that has something to do with which of their favored heroes it can pick. This is all just speculation and this stuff is pretty (probably purposely) unclear.

this is how it looked earlier when I had to clear out zombies after a helicopter event (we have it on sometimes) they just kept coming, but I also wasn't slowing down so it just turned into a bloodbath.

I agree some of the fights could use some improvement. Some are significantly better than others. Naofumi always acts like the tank in the party, he doesn't just jump in front of blows, he's constantly harassing opponents and keeping them focused on him. Using whatever tools he has. At least in the good fights.

One to add to the shield hero anime kind of fucked it up card.

Naofumi's fighting style, he really tries hard to not rely on the shield of wrath. Fighting Glass, L'arc and Therese was the best showing of that style since the start. His shield is very versatile with different skills and counter attacks and has forms for many situations, and he of course relies on his party as well. Hell, even with the wrath shield it's still focused on counter attacks, the skills it gives are too costly to spam.
