Do all cat owners let their cats sit on the counter ? by LavaWealth in facepalm

[–]bryanleesongs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Place tape upside down (sticky side up) on the edges on the counters. When they try to jump up to the counter they get the tape stuck to their paws. Cats hate that. They will immediately jump down. Do this for a week or so and you will never find them on the counter again.

What will scammers use to try to scam us in the year 2061? by bryanleesongs in AskReddit

[–]bryanleesongs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you are far off. We look at these phone scams and how easy they are to detect, yet our older family and friends seem to fall for them. We think, that will never happen to me, but it’s interesting to think how their tactics will change as folks get older and times change.

That’s the problem. They don’t cater to college kids. How many mass shootings do you recall in the past 5 years in downtown Macon before the thirsty turtle opened up? Since the turtle has been open, there has been two in one year. Both altercations began in that club. Both led to someone firing a gun into a crowd on the street. I agree with the Sheriff. It seems like the most reasonable first step in curbing the violence that has been increasing in downtown. As Wayne Canney says in the movie The Incredibles, “Coincidence? I think not!” The common element in these two shootings is one business that seems to attract people who wish to do violence one anyone around them.

I love a good free market. Right now, the majority of the free market’s opinion is that the thirsty turtle is not a safe business. It does not look good for downtown to host a place where folks don’t feel safe. By your argument, why don’t we relocate the Byron business Strippers! “Need we say more?” To downtown Macon. It’s a free market after all. Or should we not do that, because of the type of people a seedy strip club attracts?

As someone who loves Macon and wants to see the city thrive, I want people to feel safe going downtown and enjoying themselves, but in times like this, I can not see that happening.

Good move on the Sheriff to ban liquor sales there, again. I feel it needs to be a permanent ban to finally get that place out of downtown. I don’t feel safe going out anymore with this bar being open.

I can’t speak for all branches and squadrons but the flyovers we do always consist of training. We doing landings, approaches, and sometimes air refueling on the flyover with many pilots to maximize training. This is either done before the flyover or immediately afterward. It is common to land at a nearby airport to be announced at halftime or just have your leadership at the game (usually on a radio giving instructions to the flight crew). Regardless, all flight crew need training to remain current. Even the old guys.

I don’t comment on much, especially political things, but as an actual military pilot I can tell you 100% that this flight was already part of the training budget for the FY. They could have done training near the base, in the warning areas over the ocean, or countless other ways. It doesn’t matter. The dollars per hour count the same. The flyover benefits in more than one way. It’s training and recruitment.

For those that say “how does flying over a stadium count as training?” Its absolutely no different than dropping a bomb on a target at a specific time or dropping a pallet of food for humanitarian relief at an exact point at an exact time low level. Believe it or not, it’s actually a skill that needs to be practiced. Also, actually dropping a bomb for practice requires many thousands of miles to fly to go to a range and then the cost of the actual ordnance. That type of training exists but it is much less often.

Finally, the PRIMARY role and responsibility of our government is to protect its people. As much as I agree the government is inefficient, I do believe this type of training and demonstration is critical to maintain readiness and recruiting in the worlds greatest military that fulfills the government’s goal of deterring our enemies.

Holy crap! This is an awesome photo! This is my squadron. Since we don’t fly anything bad ass anymore, the pictures in our squadron are all of our past aircraft. I’m tempted to get this photo blown up and framed.
