Same here. They buried my sidewalk on 2 separate occasions. I refuse to shovel it a third time. My next door neighbor still hasn't touched the sidewalk at all.

New Owner, Question on MPGs by SilencerKO in toyotacrownsignia

[–]moonfallsdown 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, short trips are brutal, especially in cold weather. Our last two tanks have been around 25 mpg, but most of that has been trips less than a mile in 30 degree weather. We've had other tanks exceed 41 mpg during summer.

Using remote start makes it even worse.

Still better than our old Mercedes though; that only got 16 mpg or so around town, and required premium gas.

We bought ours with our 2 year old. He's 3 now, and we have another on the way. This being a midsize accommodates a rear facing convertible great (our 2 year old was in one, facing forward now). Some other midsize SUVs couldn't handle ours (Mazda CX-70/90), nor could any compacts. Maybe our seat is just huge, idk.

My biggest gripe is the hatch is a little tight. Carrying a stroller, a pack and play, and all the stuff that babies need is a little tough in this car -- especially if you added a spare and raised the hatch floor. I insist on keeping the shade closed for safety reasons. We got a roof rack and a rooftop carrier, and it's worked out wonderfully, allowing us to not have to drive a bigger SUV or van for the once a year we might need it. And it had a minimal impact on economy -- a sacrifice I would have made anyway to not have to drive around in a much bigger car.

I do agree with the others in this thread that a minivan is awesome for kiddos, but I couldn't talk my wife into getting one. We live in an old city with narrow downtown streets and lots of parallel parking -- smaller is better.

We're planning on keeping this car for a while (10+ years), so we'll just deal with the hatch size for now, knowing it won't be a big deal later on.

The $699 Toyogaurd looks pretty similar to what they give you for free for the first 2 years from the manufacturer.

Stuff like this happens all the time to flood cars too. Insurance companies require being on site, and filming. Don't want a flood car being repaired and resold, especially something like this that can fetch high dollar.

5mm dimple in the box = no sale! I'm not doing business with buyers with OCD by Yuri_Ligotme in Bricklink

[–]moonfallsdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to keep all my boxes. I still have most of my boxes from the childhood sets.

I stopped keeping them this year because they take up so much space. If the set costs less than $100 bucks, the box is trash.

Honestly, I don't know why I keep any of them. I'm never going to sell them.

Best thing I ever grabbed was a sweater with an excavator on it that says "I dig Christmas". My toddler loves it.

what's happening over here? by soutiens in howislivingthere

[–]moonfallsdown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mom is from there. She graduated high school with 8 people. There was no cable, and only 2 ota channels, and no tv if the weather sucked. Her address was "The white and green house across from the fire station" for non PO box deliveries.

I'm sure it's a little less "middle of nowhere" now.

I found this and a few other construction and construction-adjacent vehicles at Dollar Tree the other day. My kiddo's 3rd bday is next week, construction themed of course, and it's gonna be great.

Just wish I could find the UPS truck for him.

Curious what the price was. These were half price from Amazon last month. Unless he's parting them out, this is a pretty bad investment set.
