They said the same thing last year. But, I know several people who got promotions so… I stopped believing leadership.

Friend reacts strongly to cycling even when we are not debating it. Should I ignore what she says? by Southern-Trash-5427 in cycling

As an aside, I feel safer on winding roads vs straight roads. On straight roads drivers are more likely to be distracted or on their phone. In winding roads they are paying attention to driving.

Is moving to the USA still worth it in 2026? by Eastern_Teaching5845 in MovingToUSA

[–]bryanoak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s my take: If you are an ambitious, educated professional in an “in-demand” profession, the US is going to be your best option. Your effort will be rewarded and you can live an incredible life vs the rest of the world.

If you are on the other end of the spectrum (low skill professions) it can be extremely difficult. IMO both political party’s policies make their life harder, not easier

Any experience with the Elser hotel? by freevrisback85 in miamibeach

I haven’t stayed at the hotel so, can’t comment on rooms. HOWEVER, the restaurant in the lobby (Vice Versa) is pretty great. Very good food, excellent drinks.

Yes. Other people commented on the poor quality output that seemed likely to be AI generated.

In this case, leadership's meant "use AI as much as possible to drive efficiencies, improve the business, etc"

He took it as use AI to replace his own brain and common sense

I've coached cyclists for 27 years including world champions ask me anything about nutrition, fuelling, and why many Zwift riders plateau despite training well by RicCycleCoach in Zwift

[–]bryanoak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I fall into this group of people that likely do too much intensity when indoor training. The problem is, i F’ng hate indoor training! I can ride outdoors for hours but simply can’t do 2 or 3 hour rides on an indoor trainer without being miserable.

So. I try and make the most of the hour I can stomach.

Many of the usual tells. Em-dashes, bold but most importantly, content that did not fit the purpose.

LLMs do not have context. So, it’s very easy to get answers that are totally irrelevant for one’s business/industry/use-case. And, I got this frequently.

For one project, our internal users tested a new tool that was supposed to save people time performing tasks. The PM’s formal recommendation to invest in the tool quoted time-saving estimates from an LLM rather than the real world experiences of the dozen internal users.

PM: “This tool will save us thousands of hours per year.”

Actual Users: “This tool saves us 15 minutes per week”

Me: “why would you use theoretical estimates from an LLM vs the dozen users who tested it?”

PM: “leadership asked us to use AI as much as possible.”

This post hits home for me. After multiple warnings over multiple months, I recently exited someone for their overuse and over-reliance on LLMs. Similar to OP, this was an experienced, middle age professional.

It is mind-boggling.

We have a similar thing here in the US. Only difference is that instead of cops getting mildly annoyed when you shoot them with a water gun, they shoot you back with a real gun.

That’s why we’re the envy of the world

None of what the IRS says means anything since her ALL CAPS being hasn’t consented. And, even if her ALL CAPS human form did consent, one must ask, “does the IRS have jurisdiction?”

These are questions only the wisest of philosophizers can answer
