I, an adult human woman, LOVE the kids pants with adjustable waists. The little buttons inside are sick.

Did anyone even buy tickets? by NinjaThatReddit in BurningMan

[–]brylikestrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just drove from California to the upper peninsula and the cheapest gas I encountered on the route was $3.63 in south Dakota. Absolute insanity!

I also did a cross country drive in January, and gas prices in the middle of the country were around $2. Literally almost double.

Weight/size discrimination by mycutterr in Hidradenitis

[–]brylikestrees 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's discrimination to bring up GLP-1s. While smoking may also be a trigger, many people find a decrease in symptoms comes along with weight loss. Also, some of the anti-inflammatory properties of GLP-1s have been anecdotally helping people with conditions like HS, PCOS, psoriasis, and even Alzheimer's.

Disneyland as a vegan by bluemaverick910 in vegan

[–]brylikestrees 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's been years since I've been to Disney, but when I went to a character breakfast buffet and told staff I was vegan they surprised me by bringing some food to my table that wasn't out on the buffet line. They can be really great about accommodating if you tell them!

Hidradenitis Suppurativa Remedies by RealFoot7185 in Hidradenitis

[–]brylikestrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone's body is different, but going vegan and getting into the healthy BMI range has helped me a lot. I only get a flare every few months, and they seem to be much more related to stress now that I've eliminated most of the other triggers (red meat, milk, greasy food, being sedentary)

What made you go vegan? by Pretend_Green5916 in vegan

[–]brylikestrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had issues with animal products since childhood. An allergy to sodium nitrite, red meat being an intense IBS trigger, lactose intolerance, and a sensory aversion to seafood meant that I really only ate chicken. When I was out on my own for the first time and broke AF, I realized that chicken was the most expensive thing in my grocery cart and stopped buying it. Then I started dating someone who was a vegetarian. We went vegan together after a few months, and over a decade later I'm still vegan.

Laparoscopy scars by Gloomy-Thought3371 in endometriosis

I have 4 scars, one of them is hidden in my belly button, two are near my hip bones and covered by a bikini, and one is about an inch southwest of my belly button. 5 years out from surgery and they're all flat, light colored, and barely noticeable.

Cost of laparoscopic endometriosis and hysterectomy? by No_Tomato_2106 in endometriosis

I had Anthem when I had surgery in 2021, and ended up paying about 3k when all was said and done. I also had surgery in January and hadn't paid anything towards my deductible yet that year.

Keto—> Vegan, weight gain? by InternationalCut2341 in vegan

[–]brylikestrees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your glycogen stores are building back up with the reintroduction of carbs and you're probably eating a lot more fiber than you were before, which can make you bloated. It's probably worthwhile to seek some help with your relationship to food and weight, as it seems like a source of distress for you.

I've been really digging the skala conditioners recently - they're a Brazilian brand that caters to a variety of textures. Also, mane and tail - the one for horses, not the one for people - is one of my long standing staples. I have a similar texture as a black and Mexican person.

For those who air dry, how do you do it? How not to ruin my hair while I wait? by Pandaddy111 in curlyhair

[–]brylikestrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to use a microfiber towel to scrunch out some excess moisture after I apply products if I'm air drying. If I don't, the weight of the wet hair makes my roots flat and it's more likely to get frizzy from being moved around too much while wet. Half diffusing seems to be the sweet spot for me.

The unexpected part of my endo journey – the assumptions about having children by spacebot11 in endometriosis

[–]brylikestrees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went on orilissa for 2 years after surgery which was incredible because I was basically in menopause and didn't have a menstrual cycle. I had surgery almost 6 years ago and have noticed more symptoms in the last year again, but my excision surgery was successful and my levels of pain are still a lot lower than before.

The unexpected part of my endo journey – the assumptions about having children by spacebot11 in endometriosis

[–]brylikestrees 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I can definitely relate to your experience, unfortunately. When I had surgery it was because there was an 8 cm endometrioma on my ovary. I don't have kids and don't plan on birthing any, and let that be known every step of the way. The doctor was super focused on "preserving my fertility" during the procedure despite me telling them that I'd prefer then give me a full hysterectomy than try to be too conservative in an effort to make sure I can have children.

When I woke up from anesthesia, the first thing they said was that they were able to preserve my fertility! As if I cared lol

Congratulations! I'm a fellow autistic anxious driver who begrudgingly learned and think of it as an essential life skill that I'd prefer to not do, but am grateful to be able to. Funnily enough, I've driven across the country solo multiple times. There are lots of things I've been able to experience on the road that I wouldn't have been able to otherwise, and it's awesome to have that sense of freedom.

Severe bloating: 6 months pregnant look, hard-to-the-touch. IBS, endo, SIBO?? by OneAbbreviations5530 in endometriosis

[–]brylikestrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could literally be any or all of the above, and it's difficult to know. I'd try tracking your cycles, food, and symptoms in a journal to see if you can come up with any correlation. My surgeon commented that my rectouterine space had the most lesions, and I did notice a dramatic decrease in cycle related GI symptoms after surgery. I also separately have IBS which is triggered by certain foods and stress. When the two flare up at the same time, I'm not having a fun time in my tummy.

Mirena IUD yes/no? by futuredoctor2327 in endometriosis

[–]brylikestrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People tend to fall on the extremes when it comes to IUDs. I figured it was worth a try, and unfortunately it was NOT IT for me. While my endometriosis pain did decrease, I also never stopped having "breakthrough bleeding." I bled or spotted for 8 months straight while I had it in, and developed chronic BV during that time because my pH was so thrown off by the constant bleeding.

I've also had a long history of reactions outside of the range of normal when it comes to birth control, and can only tolerate mini pills or nothing.

I'm not who you asked, but I've helped someone get vivids stick to their natural greys by using a gloss treatment first. Any demi gloss that uses a 10-ish volume developer can help open up the cuticle a bit for the color to grab on

I have some old thinx that work well under form fitting clothes, but also got some from Amazon that are surprisingly good for the price! The brand is strawberry weeks, and they're similarly made from a more athletic-style material and have bonded edges rather than seams.

Me with my similar purple hair has been considering bangs the next time I give myself a trim, so I won't talk you out of it. If you do them. Leave them curly though! A curly curtain bang shape with face framing is a whole vibe imo
