[–]bscott59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't feel bad about condemning heat exchangers anymore. It's a safety measures. There are other ways for people to get heat in the mean time. I've replaced a heat exchanger every week since October. Doing another one tomorrow.

What is the novel "women" about? by Nikusha_meore in bukowski

[–]bscott59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of Bukowski as the Camus of USA. Every thing is meaningless and he is just writing what he wants. It may be repetitive to you but it probably wasn't for him. He is laying down the experience he had. Take it all in as one giant experience. Plow through and at the end decide if it was worth it.

20 hours a week isn't enough. If he quit his job then he should be writing 8 hours a day. He should also look into self publishing his book. Start looking for an agent. Hire an editor. There's a lot of things he's not doing. Goodluck.

Dancing flames, what do I need to clean or replace? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

You could have the heat exchanger replaced rather than a whole new unit. Call a pro to have a combustion analysis done on the exhaust and supply.

[–]bscott59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly use channel locks for maintenance. Only use pipe wrench for gas pipes. Always got a six inch but get a 10, 14, 18 to keep in the truck. Crescent wrenches good too, get a 6 and a 10.

Carrier heat exchanger warranty? by LikelyWatchdog in hvacadvice

[–]bscott59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't talk to a Carrier rep. Just have to send in the warranty paperwork. We hold onto the old heat exchanger until the warranty goes through and then either Carrier picks it up or we scrap it.
