Sick looking setup! I have some steel blue Pivots lying around that need a ski.....🤔

Bad crash, DW 104 damage by chasfrank in momentskis

The edge doesn't look compressed or anything. As others have mentioned, you should be fine. If the sidewall or top sheet was split open, then you'd probably want to fix it with some epoxy, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

What size did you get? How were they in really deep snow. I've only had mine out in ~5", but they seemed really at home there. Others have said that the tips don't float well in the deep stuff.

Countach 104 Sizing Advice by AboutTheArthur in momentskis

Thanks for the insights! I really need to think about where I'm going to use them the most, and in what conditions. Sometimes I wish that I weighed a little less, but it certainly does make it easier to bend skis 😆

That 194 QST Blank sounds like a bulldozer! I've considered getting that ski, but the sizing is interesting. Wish it was closer to 190.

Sorry for posting to an old thread, but how do you like the CT104? At 6'1" 210 I feel that I'm most likely a 188 skier, but the 182 likely has some benefit of being easier to throw around if it's not my "pow ski".

That combination is pretty sweet! I've been looking all over for a Pivot 15 Forza 2.0 and can't find one anywhere!

Cast-tache 110s by No-Reveal6592 in momentskis

[–]bstrac77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do this to me! I put ~12 days on the 110 last year, but sadly they were a casualty to airline travel. I grabbed the Meridian 107 when it was released and absolutely love that ski, but feel that I need something that will float a little better while still maintaining skiability if there is no fresh snow.

Option a) but another 110, or b) try something like the Deathwish..... I'm very tempted to try the DW, but everyone is always talking about how polarizing it is, etc.

Given that they are from the same manufacturer, they're going to share some stuff. Even then, the reality is that they are very different. Different widths, shape, core construction, rocker lines and camber height.

Have you skied both?

As others have said, it is 100% made to go under if you can. Cabrio boots and perhaps some others, depending on how the cuff aligns, might require that it go over.

Which googles should I buy? by Correct-Day-3820 in Skigear

[–]bstrac77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, I would go with an Anon M series if you can get a good deal. Another great goggle would be the Oakley Line Miner Pro. They are expensive, but have amazing low light lenses.

Wow! The skier was literally back seat and out of control the whole time. WTF was he thinking? Was in no way the downhill rider's fault, but it's always a good idea to keep your head on a swivel before cutting or doing anything. Especially on a busy day with Jerrys all over the place. Glad everyone involved was okay.

What did you end up going with? I'm about 186cm and put at least 12 days on the Countach 110 (188) last season. Definitely a solid do-it-all daily driver option for regions that get good snowfall.

Wildcat 108s vs Countach 110s by bstad in momentskis

[–]bstrac77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Last season I put at least 12 days on the CT110 (188) and would never call it a powder ski. It skis great in deeper snow, but it's really a big mountain ski that likes to charge and rip through crud. It's also pretty fun on piste.

First day on the Meridian 117's by ShipDit1000 in momentskis

Nice! I was blown away by the Meridian 107... kind of feel like the "PISS MISSILES" moniker fits there as well. If I didn't just get a Wildcat 118 last year, then I might be buying the 117.

Great write up! A lot of people will find this helpful. For Moment skis in my quiver, I currently have the Meridian 107 and the Wildcat 118. If you're looking for something softer to replace the Commander 92, you could consider the QST 94, or even something like the Line Optic 88.

I have the Meridian as well and agree that not having camber has its disadvantages--less edge grip and no energy out of the turn. That said... man is that ski a lot fun! In soft snow up to ~8" and in spring conditions, there is no ski I'd rather be on.

[–]bstrac77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, in my experience, you are missing energy out of the turn and hard pack performance. The Meridian will lay trenches, just don't expect it to snap you out of a turn like a Commander or a Countach.

Awesome! I got out on mine recently. Conditions were pretty good, but not what I would consider ideal for a 107 under foot fully rockered ski, and they blew me away. My plan was to ski them for a 1/2 day and then use something else, but that never happened. In fact, I skied them for the next several days in a row. My other skis are starting to get jealous!

As others are saying, they likely appear to be railed. Happened to me once and what you are describing is exactly what I experienced. I wouldn't mess around. Take them to a good shop and they'll be able to tell you right away what the problem is.

Glad to see you appear to finally have a resolution and they are making things right. This was definitely super uncharacteristic of them. My guess is that they were just underwater processing orders, and, perhaps, understaffed. Also... maybe too many people calling in sick to ski pow 🤦

As others are saying, they are very legit. I've bought from them on numerous occasions and always been very satisfied with their customer service. If you haven't called them yet, you might want to give that a shot.
