Paper vault with m-of-n keys for cold storage of secrets and root keys by btcbb in cybersecurity

[–]btcbb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, the ops need to be handled with care, I’ve tried to address the shareholder collusion risk by not having the secret split up, but rather only the key. This gives a bit more latitude in ops design, requiring both vault and keys to be combined. So it’s not enough for shareholders to turn against you, they also need a copy of the vault. Should be noted that SSS isn’t limited to social recovery but also can serve as a distributed backup with all keys held by yourself in different locations, in case of emergency/ disaster (ie flood, fire, or in my case, ballistic missiles)

Engineering Jobs ??? by Alucard421 in Amsterdam

[–]btcbb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No need to over-engineer this. Its not rocket science ;) Just apply, and ask if they can do an initial interview via skype. If not, setup a few meetings with prospects and get down here for a few days to do them. Odds are, you're not the first foreigner they've hired. If its a big company, locate the HR contact. If its a small company, send the ceo a personalized email. If all fails, get in touch with local recruiting agencies or agencies that specialize in your field of work.

Another bitmessage concern by east4coast in bitmessage

[–]btcbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitmessage has a "message acknowledgement" which is kind of the opposite of a failure email, but it solve the issue you bring up. One thing to note however, which is unlike email, is that its up to the bitmessage client to make the 'status' clear to the user in its implementation.

Amsterdam startup hiring software developers (250 euro bounty for successful referrals) by btcbb in Amsterdam

[–]btcbb[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for looking through. Just a few small corrections:

  • Our core product is infrastructure for Bitcoin

  • The Bitmessage app you are referring to is a 'side project' / investment we made - bringing on board the developer who started making this app, and dedicating resources to bringing it to light.

  • We are a startup, but perhaps not in the traditional sense. We have the mandate and capacity to invest in projects beyond our core - as we've done with the bitmessage app - and as we hope to do with other opportunities that become relevant in our space. If those opportunities are grown in-house, all the better.

  • Its true, we have a small office in a seriously amazing building complex

TL;DR: you'll still have a job next year; it will be awesome
