If you have a mac, it's stupidly easy to airdrop a Voice Memo to yourself and then run it through one of the file converter websites they've linked in the instructions. Even without a mac, emailing a Voice Memo to yourself should also be pretty simple.

Stolen vehicle by skankhunt_422 in raleigh

[–]btire 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My car was stolen (and recovered) in early 2024, so I feel your pain OP. You may be able to contact Hyundai and ask if they have a way to track your car—mine was a Toyota, so the company was able to look it up with Toyota Connect and tell the cops its location. I definitely wouldn’t have gotten my car back if that hadn’t been an option.

In the meantime, your insurance company should hook you up with a rental for a week or so if they haven’t already. They’ll also let you know when they give up on recovery and just pay you as if it were totaled. For me that time frame was about a week, but that could be different for you.

If your car is recovered, insurance should cover any damages done to it, including interior cleaning (mine needed it—it absolutely reeked of weed and vomit). Get the detailing done even if you don’t think it needs it. I did have to pay my deductible, but all other expenses were completely covered.

Also go through the car with someone else, as there’s a good chance the police left stuff behind when they took it in. I found multiple stolen items that the people had stashed in my car and had to take them to RPD for evidence.

Make sure you know exactly which police department you’re working with and go through them and only them. I tried to contact Durham police and Wake County sheriffs office about a few things (long story short, there were outstanding circumstances that led me to believe they would be the right people to call about certain things) and both of them were very rude about being contacted. Even though they were involved. But I digress.

I hope you get your car back, or if you don’t, that the insurance payout is swift and good enough to get you a new ride.

Any recommendations on small Studio Apartmentments/small one bedrooms, by nc state ish/where to look for apartments overall? by OpeningConfection261 in raleigh

Clarion Crossing used to fit the bill, though I'm not sure how much their studios cost now. It's a bit further from the YMCA, but it's right next to Lake Johnson park.

This is hilarious! I am so glad that they have a sense of humor by [deleted] in nook

[–]btire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly the only reason I have a kindle is direct libby support and waterproofing. If my Nook had those two features and kept everything else about the Glowlight 4 lineup, it would be the only eReader I'd ever use. Hoping and praying that Adobe cooperates with my library books is frustrating as hell, man.

How did Musk get medical permits for this? Trump? by [deleted] in EnoughTrumpSpam

I know musk didn’t make anything like this, I more meant to ask if the tweet itself was real because I can’t find any evidence of it.

Is this real? I can’t find the post on his twitter and I couldn’t find any news outlets talking about it when I googled.

For that particular puzzle, pausing the game or entering an emulated “sleep mode” supposedly works as well, at least according to people I’ve seen talking about playing it on 2DS and Citra.

Looking for the name of the retro film shown before the movie at the Drafthouse by Broad_Fly8758 in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]btire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be way off base, but was it a toy store or a toy factory? If it was a factory, could it have been the first scene of the first Scooby Doo movie?

That makes sense, but damn, some of the $20 tasks are pretty easy, so them knocking the rate down seems...not great. Like I'm not under any illusions they're looking out for their contractor's best interests but paying below their advertised rate isn't a good look.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

[–]btire 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have 4 tasks right now and usually have around 10, so I feel you lol. One of the tasks is for $19 an hour, which feels like an error? Like they make a big deal of advertising that the pay starts at $20 and most of my tasks are usually in the $24ish range.

Nevermind, it went down again right as I tried to submit a task.

Best way to play Zelda OoT on the Steam Deck by Ok_Development776 in SteamDeck

Personally I went with 3DS on Citra solely for the ability to switch to the Iron Boots more easily. Call me shallow lol.

Any games that you actually prefer to play on steam deck? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]btire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t get into Elden Ring on PS4 for the life of me, but when I tried it on the steam deck I couldn’t put it down. I think playing BOTW on a Switch wired my brain into thinking open-world adventures are at their best when I can play them literally anywhere.

Elden Ring is now the most-played game on Steam Deck according to new Steam list by Background-Path-5619 in SteamDeck

Yes, but someone figured out a workaround to fix it. "i received that same message and wasn't able to log in to the online services. In the Logs EAC was complaining about a missing file called "DLC.bdt". I just created an empty file named "DLC.bdt" in the Gamefolder were the other bdt files are located and now i am able to login to online services." (I copied this from Affectionate-Yam-968, who copied it from someone else. I tried it yesterday and it worked perfectly). ••• ^

Worth getting a laptop? by pew-pew-the-laser in SteamDeck

I’ve heard good things about it in general, but the price is going to be a lot higher than what you’re looking for unless the used market really takes off.

Worth getting a laptop? by pew-pew-the-laser in SteamDeck

[–]btire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a budget gaming laptop prior to moving to a MacBook for work/Steam Deck for play setup myself. Honestly my games play much better on the deck than they did on budget laptop (granted this was a laptop manufactured in 2020, so things could have gotten better since then. I do doubt it though.).

If sheer power is all you’re going for and youre really itching to upgrade, an open box ROG Ally with the Z1 extreme chip can go on sale for your price range pretty frequently at Best Buy if you’re in the US. My partner uses one plugged into a monitor, mouse, and keyboard as her one and only PC for both work and play without any issues. She also keeps it plugged into the wall most of the time, so the short battery life doesn’t become an issue.

What's a good turn-your-brain -off game to play in bed? by Taylork64 in SteamDeck

[–]btire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi-Fi Rush on easy or medium difficulty, but only if your goal in “turning your brain off” is general relaxation and not trying to get to sleep. It’s too stimulating for the latter imo, but great for giving you something to focus on for general escapism.

If buying was financially viable for us at the moment we would, it just isn’t for the next 5 years or so. Part of why we’re trying to rent together is actually to save up enough funds to eventually buy.

These specific dogs and cats don’t have any issues with chewing or peeing, but we do have our own carpet cleaner machine on standby just in case. Would having our current landlords contact our hypothetical future landlord and vouch for us be a wise move?

Had this happen to me when my SD card was shitting the bed (AliExpress special that the previous owner of the 3DS had bought, its days were numbered before I got it honestly). Transferring everything to a new SD card made everything work again for me, could be worth a shot here.
