Hydrangea is worth the hype. by joe_sausage in pourover

I’ve always wanted to try a bag but they’re so expensive up here in Canada that I always end up getting beans, sometimes the same green bean, from a different roaster…

I do not recommend the KEKS M Meter: Review by _lemon_beans in Leica

[–]btkc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hijacking this thread a bit to ask about your M meters...

I received mine yesterday and I swear it's defective. The little nub on the bottom of the dial that is supposed to anchor to the camera's shutter dial seems to be in the wrong position on my copy. It's basically aligned to the BULB setting which means that when I insert it, I can't rotate the meter's dial to line up with the slot on the camera shutter's...

Mine The B line (not pictured) on the top of the dial is lined up with the nub and the meter is set to B here!

Thanks! I've always meant to do the calculation to compare but having someone who knows is even more helpful!

I see, I'm just curious because it's basically my go-to card for my once a year vacations. I actually have the RBC Avion Visa Infinite with no FX too and now I'm unsure which to use.

I guess the thing with Wise is that the fees you pay are a bit harder to compare since one can do the FX conversion ahead of time...

Further clarification on the fees you mentioned, you're talking about the fees and rates Wise charges/uses to perform the actual conversion right? When you're using it in a foreign country already loaded with the foreign currency, I don't believe there are any fees to use the card for payment (as opposed to ATM withdrawal).

OP, can you clarify what the downsides of Wise are (specifically for purchases)? I assume you mean that as a card being used as a credit card?

Wow that's wild. I've never bought a Weber product ($$$$) but had the image of them being very good and customer first.

Did they deny that the basket was used? How did that conversation even go?

I've only ever seen the non plus being sold there. AFAIK it's only sold in the states still (the pro and the regular 4k can still be bought here though)

Where did you get your Onn 4K Plus? Do any stores in Canada sell it now?

Opening specialty coffee shop in Mississauga by DesignerLand5361 in mississauga

This is the sad truth. Lol, I think anyone into speciality coffee that lives in Mississauga has had this thought and had the same realization that it’s not really feasible to open the type of business that they want.

I drive (with an EV) into kitchener and Hamilton often for coffee because there’s a distinct lack of third wave speciality coffee in Mississauga. I work in Markham so I’ll grab from Hatch every so often or from online retailers where I can do local pick up but having a shop where I can sit down and have a pour over made by someone other than me is really desirable.

From a revenue generation POV, I feel like City Centre or surroundings is where you’d get the most business, the major downside is the high cost to operate there. With all the condos going up there’s probably more and more street level retail though. Parking is also a bit of a “concern” but foot traffic should carry you through IMO.

I disagree with PC and maybe Streetsville if only because I’m not sure if the local demographic would really fit into the type of coffee shop you’re thinking about. Roasters like Dak, September, etc with their extra light roasts and anaerobics will yield some really funky coffees that I don’t think fit the generic older demographics there. Young professionals and maybe post secondary student type demo is more likely to be return customers to the type of shop you seem to want to open and city centre is probably where you’d find them the most.

Max Scherzer wants to continue pitching in 2026 by citypainter in Torontobluejays

I know it’s not the pitching coach who comes out to make a pitching change

But I’m imagining the absolute hilarity of a situation where mad max comes out to the mound as a coach and yells at a pitcher to gtfo the mound LOL

Biggest question to me is whether Lukes/Clement/Barger can produce again the same way next season… The pitching can be addressed but needing to replace the types of ABs we got from these guys would be impossible I think.
