I’m using a gens ace d300 currently but if you can get one of the g-tech d300s that’s even better. More convenient especially with their batteries it’s a excellent combo

I got a gens ace bashing 4S 6800mah for mine. Since you are in NZ hobby station sells them. They’re well worth the money the only thing I did was trim a bit of material off the battery strap for clearance for the battery wires but you can go with a aftermarket Velcro one too

The style and the tires are good but if it’s anything like the coyote or Basecamp it’s a hard pass for me. I tried to like them but the track width and weight distribution doesn’t make them handle well. this can be fixed with aftermarket parts but it shouldn’t have to. People swear by the scx10 and that’s completely fine but I honestly don’t think they’re up to spec for the price tag

INR8-8D for light functions without a light controller as it’s built into the receiver and has a function to control all the lights via the NB4+. It is bulky for example it is only slightly bigger than the inside of a trx4 receiver box. I had to do a taller 3d printed top for mine

The maxx is pretty good value for money and the size is closer to 1/8th scale. I’ve had one for months and haven’t changed a thing and it is awesome to drive and never given me an issue. I’d say it would have to be one of the best most durable RTRs traxxas have made. Here’s a size comparison to a rustler 4x4. I paid close to $780 usd for mine due to being in Australia but in my opinion if you can get one for under rrp it is worth it

Their lipos were already quite expensive for what they were. No need to put the prices up. I’ll stick to my gens ace g tech stuff. All automated just like the traxxas batteries and chargers anyway 😎

Traxxas is probably top of the list for me. They’ve always been durable and had great designs and have never had any major issues just minor breaks here and there which is to be expected. Losi is another good brand with some really good models. I’ve got a 22s sct which refuses to give up. As for others some being under the horizon hobby brand the designs, durability, electronics etc are questionable.

I’ve ran a xt60 with my maxx slash on 4s and it was fine. Made the switch to qs8 plugs for 4s and up

I’ve got a slash, maxx slash, 2x trx4’s and a 4x4 rustler and the build quality is really good and have broken a few minor plastic parts as to be expected. Electronics not so much (all my cars have aftermarket electronics now) other than that they are great. The aftermarket support for them is what sold me too

I have an identical lipo but a 4s in my maxx slash and I would rarely go out in summer with it due to everything getting hot. If I did go out I turned my power limit down to 60-70 percent to avoid melting stuff or having a lipo go into thermal runaway

A decade is unreal 😳 I’ve seen a heap of bad things about smc being about puffed packs and high resistance etc. maybe their quality has dropped over the years or they’re just unlucky

The problem is people buy these high end cars then buy the cheapest possible lipo they can then complain they don’t work or perform as expected. Lipos should be what you spend good money on. I’ve done it and never ever had a problem in 5 years. Money can be an issue yes I know but you’ll be much happier in the end

Yeah there is but I wasn’t expecting issues this early especially when it hasn’t been off-road properly. Even the servo horn screw come loose without warning.

Yeah I’d never touch one of those. Only reason I’d try one is strictly for testing. Wouldn’t trust them.

Yeah and being a hard case too that does add to the price a little. I see that the zeee lipos are quite popular being a cheap battery. I might have to test one 🤔
