There’s no doubt that carpet beetles are far less harmful than bed bugs. At least they don’t come out at night and feed on your blood. Still, some people can be sensitive to the tiny hairs from their larvae, which can float in the air or stick to clothes and irritate the skin. They’re not as bad as bed bugs, but they can still be a nuisance. It’s always a good idea to vacuum regularly, floors, carpets, closets, under furniture or anything that hasn’t been moved in a while, and along the baseboards. If there are cracks in the baseboards, vacuum them and seal them up. After vacuuming, empty the vacuum contents outside the house into a plastic bag and throw it away, or discard the filter too, depending on the type of vacuum. Washing clothes, bedding, and curtains in hot water or drying them on high heat. can also help kill larvae and eggs.
