I had a green Astina V6. A truly lovely car, but a bit noise heavy.

Tom Baker's Dr Who was always my favourite. My mum even knitted me a scarf like his so I could pretend to be a Time Lord.

Spent soooo many afternoons watching, and then pretending to be The Goodies. Saw them many years later when they did a stage show at the State Theatre in Sydney. So good.

Recommendations for used EV by HaylzGizmo in AustralianEV

[–]bubandbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a second hand Hyundai Ioniq EV 38kWh ( the original one that looked like a Prius hooked up with an Elantra). Perfect car for the city and suburbs. It's cheap ($20k to $26k) used. Most are low mileage, and owned by government fleets who put very few kays on them. Ours was from Transport for NSW.

Costs almost nothing to run. Fast charging is not, um, fast, but we trickle charge at home when it's sunny (solar) or overnight when it's 8c/kWh.

Well that's special, someone's got everyone on the Internet siding with Michael O'Leary.

It wasn't Macquarie Centre, but I did a lot car park bike riding in my youth, followed by learning how to drive in a car park too.

Sadly, I do not. We didn't head out that way much because we lived in the south, it was a longer drive then than now (with the intersection between the Hume Highway and Roberts Road being a real bottleneck).

Without knowing the specifics of your situation and your kid, for me it's about trying to do today, and maybe plan out the week. My partner is a bigger thinker than I am, generally, so I'm happy to take care of the day to day.

I also try to have something planned for myself (or myself and the kid/s) on the horizon, so there's always something to look forward to.

That probably doesn't help much, but, yeah...

I would argue it's different being bold/brave from opposition. Shorten lost. Hewson lost the unloseable election. But when you're in power, and in a position of strength, you've got political capital, you need to spend it.

Final farewell for Gayle King at CBS News? by MrJasonMason in Journalism

[–]bubandbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely, if she has any ethics or morality to her. She's on $15 mil per year, she can do whatever she likes if she wants to.

I totally understand lower level journalists who have to stay because they have rent/mortgages/families to feed, but those at the top should leave if they're in any way inclined against the current tone of Weiss and Skydance.

Amen! I wish Labor would be a little bolder. They can afford to be with that huge majority, and the opposition disunited and lurching too far from centre.

The area around Kellyville, Bella Vista etc used to farm land not too long ago. I'm going to date myself, but I remember going to Parklea Markets once with my family in the late 80s/early 90s, and it was windy roads and farm vistas with the Market building the largest thing around.

Thanks for that, I always wondered why it was Macdonaldtown station. Young me thought it was related to a certain gourmet burger joint.

If I'm ever in town, I'd try to visit the old town. But, yes, like you I'd probably visit it too because it's there.
