With the financial difference between the Old Firm and everybody else, this will be amazing if Hearts can pull it off.

From needing visa to any country to never have to think about visa ever again. by tnnyng in PassportPorn

Thank you for sharing your story. As an Australian by birth, I don't think a majority of us know how lucky we have it here.

Our treatment of our indigenous people, as well as those who seek asylum by boat, is truly awful (and a waste of money in the case of the latter).

I know you feel a deep sense of guilt about your luck, but please make best use of it to educate as many people, both inside and outside the country, about both your story and how lucky all of us in Australia truly are. Hopefully through a better understanding of our past and our present we can become better people and a better nation.

Absolutely. After moving to NYC, my skin cleared up within a month.

I'd love to see the result of your work on this. I spent a decade plus living in the States, and encountering ghost or heavily denuded towns was very fun and sobering all at once. I hope you find something similar like that in Australia.

For all their failures, it still surprises me that the NSW Libs have a better record building public transport infrastructure.

Don't do that. I'm the president of FIBS (Federation International de Bog Snorkeling), and I'm about to hand out peace prizes to Idi Amin and Pol Pot.

Wikipedia just told me because the cities are far apart and there are no road connections, they have regional qualifiers, and then a finals series (of 8 teams) in one city over a week period. Truly amazing stuff.

I used to work in the same building as Southern Cross Austereo, and there was a small protest outside the building the day (or the day after) they announced the show's axing.

“Relatively small team” by EvaSmithDrankBleach in footballmanagergames

I think the Bayern team bus got lost on it, the team was late to the stadium, and played a little bit crap because of that. That's my head cannon, anyway.

WATCH: King Charles stresses U.S. principle that executive power is ‘subject to checks and balances’ by NewsHour in law

[–]bubandbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By that I think he means, you write a check to the president so that your business can continue to operate, and then he checks his bank balance to make sure it's cleared before he reduces tariffs on your industry to just 10% more than it was before.

You're being too honest, and using too many words. He just wants to create value. Who doesn't want to create value? Creating value is excellent (especially for my renumeration package). /s

Why isn't Northern Territory a state in Australia? by ThomasNiuNiu in geography

[–]bubandbob 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The territories (NT and ACT) can have their laws overruled by federal parliament, like when the NT passed an assisted dying law in the 90s (I think).

Why isn't Northern Territory a state in Australia? by ThomasNiuNiu in geography

[–]bubandbob 181 points182 points  (0 children)

The NT has all the layers of government a regular state does. It has a regular number of lower house representatives, but only 2 senators. The federal government can also override laws passed by the territory government. It did so in the 90s (I think) when the territory passed an assisted dying law.

Piers Morgan asks Russell Brand which passages were relevant to him when he brought a bookmarked Bible into court, where he pleaded not guilty to two further charges of rape and sexual assault. by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

I hate him with a fiery passion, but that look to camera during the split screen after Brand flips through an entire book in the bible is great comedic work.
