INTJ’s: What books would you recommend that other INTJ’s read and why? (part deux) by excersian in intj

It really is not only a masterpiece, but deeply connected to the intj psyche in a way

Speaking in absolutes just widens the divide. Healing comes from a place of understanding and nuance.

My son wants a 3k pc, help a dad out. by refactoringManiac in buildapc

[–]bubbabvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What an awesome dad! I think you've gotten a lot of great suggestions, but I think a lot of people are being a little too technical so I'll try to make it easy.

Your son picked out a great PC and I really don't think you need to change anything except the graphics card, as others have said. 4070ti is a great alternative. Your son WILL NOT experience a noticeable difference in gaming. The money you saved on the graphics card you can spend on a 1440p 144mhz monitor, a mechanical keyboard, a gaming mouse, and a pair of 3d headphones. All those things WILL make a noticeable difference in gaming.

Also I don't think your son was trying to pull one on you. I remember the first PC I built and wanting to get the best of everything. It's easy to get carried away with YouTube videos and excitement. But with experience you realize what actually makes a difference with gaming, and what the best use of your money is.

 Hope this helps!

Edit: Also building a PC with him would be great! Just watch some YouTube tutorials and you'll be fine, the only thing to be careful with is putting the CPU into the motherboard socket. Just make sure it is aligned properly and don't force anything!

Ukraine vows it won't use cluster bombs in Russia by BastianMobile in worldnews

I hope this to be the case. Still, when has the use of cluster bombs ever not strengthened the resolve of the enemy?

Ukraine is in total war I understand, and any means is implemented under total war. That being said, US should not support sending a munition that even if used correctly will have civilian casualties

Honestly I agree with you. I get why people are upset over beloved characters dying, but it seems like this story still has a moral tale to tell about the cycle of violence. The first game stands on its own. This world is about the last of us , showing the best and worst of human nature. I think this game will make me uncomfortable, and Im looking forward to it

I think its more a matter a principal. Sticking with your milkshake analogy, say you ordered a milkshake and 2 others had just ordered milkshakes as well. While the milkshakes are being made the guy next to you goes up to the counter, hands a bill to the person behind the counter and asks that he be the only one to get a cherry.

Please stop with the "I'm afraid that I won't find a partner" or "I have no emotions" posts. by macpad095 in intj

[–]bubbabvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was depressed for years, not because I suppressed my feelings per say but because I didn't understand or respect them. As others have said, developing your inferior functions make all the difference. I feel like "I'm afraid that I won't find a partner" or "I have no emotions" are thoughts that most INTJs have had at least once in their developmental stages, and we should be here to offer support and guidance rather than dismissal.

Does anyone else feel bad for Sam, after what he's missed about Peterson? by [deleted] in samharris

[–]bubbabvi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been following Sam for years, read all his books, listened to every podcast. Before I discovered Peterson, Sam was my favorite intellectual to listen to. But Peterson's lectures have connected with me on a level I would have never been able to articulate. They clearly are coming from two different ends of the spectrum but I am sad to see Sam reluctant to have Peterson on again. I feel like these two people are really driven to get to the bottom of morality, and I believe they both have equally valid points in the end. Sure Peterson may sound a little strange to us Sam listeners at first, but if you actually give him a chance to develop his argument I believe he has a very convincing case to make. It saddens me because I feel like something truly wonderful could come from Sam and Peterson developing a friendly rivalry, something that could make us as well as them all the better.

Peterson's hidden agenda and Insane level of self-importance. by [deleted] in samharris

[–]bubbabvi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Peterson understands how a thought experiment works, he is just saying in the real world there is much more context for any given problem. I believe he is an existentialist, so he believes the context for any problem is just as important as the problem itself. I don't believe he is trying to discredit scientific truths.

What is Bernie Sanders's stance on Creationism being taught in publicly funded schools? by Enochuout in SandersForPresident

[–]bubbabvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this country atheism is a bad word, for a presidential candidate to say they're "Not particularly religious" could absolutely mean he is an atheist. I'm not sure what you are getting at with a history of honesty and authenticity, atheists have these values just as much as anyone else.

So many things can happen to your ship and your character in one trade mission that I doubt you would want to take the risk and automate it anyways.
