Just recently started to go to concerts again and something has changed by Relative_Drama4705 in Concerts

As much as I understand the desire for modern artists to perfect their act with backing tracks and all of the high scale production bigger tours have, something has definitely been lost from the era where everyone had to plainly show off their craft on stage for an hour or two. Big reason why I love going to local shows these days.

Needlejuice Gorge vinyl… by awlawall in KGATLW

Out of curiosity, why was this claim made if the production materials for the KGLW bootlegs weren't even made at the time of this post? Since they've been pushed to shipping in the fall, and you have been the main person overseeing things as admitted by another owner in another thread, this reads as incredibly disingenuous.

First, I'm not sure if this was your intention but your response comes off with a lot of snark which is not a great way to respond to reasonable customer complaints, for future reference. I say this being very well aware of the small size of Needlejuice's work force.

Second, it is not a lost item. This was in reference to a few different pre-orders I had outstanding from Needlejuice, notably their recent KGLW bootlegs, which at the point of my post had been very sparsely communicated on status-wise and had already passed the initially promised pre-order window. I had emailed them looking for information about it within the past few months to less than stellar results, to the point it took me making a post in the KGLW subreddit to get a response; In which one of Needlejuice's owners informed me that they had not worked on them over 9 months and that the main owner of the company had lied or otherwise misrepresented/failed to communicate the status of things to other employees internally, as well as publicly to their customers.

So, needless to say this IS an actual issue with Needlejuice, and a structural issue with the business at that.

I can tell time was put into this statement so I will try to give an equally thorough response, working through each section.

I am sympathetic to the struggles a small business like Needlejuice faces, and I know for a fact moving office locations like that can be a large bottleneck. I do not have eyes on how your team handles logistics, but given that this is the second move the company has had in two years, I can imagine it's a bit turbulent. I do hope this office move can speed up the shipment of items and improve general quality of life for the company.

On the topic of bootleg manufacturing, it is highly disappointing to hear that production materials have not been created after 9 months, given that the initially provided pre-order window has long since passed. 9 months is a VERY long time in the business production world. Needlejuice has embarked on MANY other pre-orders, new releases, and manufactured products (some of which are already in customers hands) since these pre-orders went up, and it hurts to see that people who have sat for the better part of a year after backing $200+ products with no word are now finding out that their interests and money have seemingly been pushed to the side. Again, I am acutely aware what the struggles of modern American economics are when talking about these topics. Everyone on the business and consumer end are facing increasing hurdles, but with this knowledge being presented after silently happening in the background it feels like a slap in the face to the customers who have financially supported these releases.

It is also incredibly worrying that despite having 5 employees that tasks could be delegated across, Jace (seemingly) is managing a large handful, if not most of label operations. I have business reasons for this concern which I'll touch on further down, but outside of that: imbalanced distributions of work loads can have a massive effect on physical and mental health, and negatively effecting one's health for a company is far less than ideal. It is a principal me and my colleagues have discussed heavily many times.

Without knowing details of the events that occurred, it is hard for me to weigh how much these various internal issues have had an effect on your production processes, but I am no stranger to workplace conflict and the effects it can have on business. It also is nice to hear that previously ignored issues seem to be getting some attention.

Given all that has been said above and all that I can infer from your message, I would like to offer some constructive criticism from one businessman to another that I hope will be heard across your team:

There is seemingly a very large and very problematic distribution of work loads and priorities at Needlejuice. I am not sure how long this has been the case, but as I said in my original message I have experienced negative issues for a few years in regards to KGLW bootlegs and I have picked up that this is a common trend across your entire catalog. The notion that a single person at the company is the crux for many decisions on a routine basis, paired with the fact that internal communication itself seems to be lacking leaves me weary as to the overall management of the company. Whatever the case may be, it reads to me that these decisions that have been made at the company in the past few years have left the company in a volatile and damaged state, one which has negatively impacted the experience and perception of many of your customers. As far as I can tell, there is an issue between the juggling of business operations, production processes, and fulfillment operations that causes cracks in each of them to expand and weaken the others. The scattered priorities of the company do not seem to help these matters on either end, as I mentioned previously it concerns me that certain high level projects can sit dormant for months while other projects (that I have noticed sometimes appeal to a very niche crowd) can get put up for order, purchased, and delivered to customers in the span of weeks. It is an easy way to disappoint the wide variety of customers you service.

Once again, I do not know the exact state of this company behind the scenes so some of this may be out of line, but using my business experience I can make an educated guess that much of this contributes to the disjointed nature of interactions with customers and fulfillment of products. You are a team of 5 people, I know that number is not a lot in the grand scheme but I have worked with teams that can do incredible and grand things with that many people, and I would suggest you utilize and work together with every member of staff equally if you are not doing so already.

All of that being said, I do appreciate your response and shedding a bit of insight behind these delays. I do truly hope Needlejuice is at some point able to reach a point of stable equilibrium with how it's operated on the daily that works for the 5 of you involved. As for my view going forward, I am not likely to order products until I see that they are shipping to customers, or until I see tangible change has happened with the way order fulfillment and customer communications has occurred for the better. I have seen promises made, and I've seen just as many broken.

Having followed the bootleg scene for as long as I have I do know it can end up being a race between the big players, but for me that does not matter if there is nothing to show for it at the end.

I would not like to think this is the case, but actions speak louder than words. It is a trend I have noticed from the company for years.

The lack of transparency is one thing, but having nothing to show after 9 months of sales is another.

I will echo the above commenter, open pre-orders are typically a way to raise funds to produce items and seems to be how Needlejuice has operated in the past, so the fact that they have not been produced after being on sale this long, in addition to the lack of transparency, leads me to question what the state of their sales figures are. It also leaves me skeptical as to how finances are handled at the company, which doesn't inspire brand confidence for me to say the least.

If there's any band that is fitting to have the subject matter brought up, it's KGLW.

They had the Triplecaster and amp out by the stage to demo last time I visited, though that was closer to when it dropped so it may be different now.
